Like the other two flavor varieties in the Sambazon 100 set, the Pineapple Coconut product starts out with a base of acai berries that’s sweetened with erythritol and stevia. Made with 100 berries per bottle, this 60-calorie product is also enhanced with pineapple juice and coconut water to give it a secondary layer of flavor. The result is a very subtle pina colada-like flavor, which is quite pleasant. Unlike the Acai Berry flavor, you can taste the stevia in this variety, which is a slight disappointment. Fortunately, this does go away as you drink more of the product. Ultimately, the addition of pineapple and coconut water is nice, but we still prefer the Acai Berry variety over the flavors. In addition, we find the "100" callout somewhat confusing on this variety -- as well as the Stawberry Lemon flavor -- in that it doesn’t refer to the calorie count (it contains less than 100 calories); the number only represents the number of Acai berries in the product. Seeing as this is clearly a reduced-calorie product, we think that this will be assumed to be the calorie count by most consumers. Whether or not this impacts the purchase decision is hard to say, but we still feel the need to mention it. Otherwise, we like the design of the product. The addition of white makes for a more modern and “light” look than Sambazon’s purple heavy designs that are used on its other lines. Overall, we’re still a bit more fond of the Acai Berry flavor, but this is definitely a worthy addition to the line.
