Acai Berry

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 11 oz PET
BevNET Review: If you’re a fan of Sambazon’s acai drinks but want something a little lighter in body (and calories), then this is a great option for you. From a flavor point of view, this USDA Organic 20 percent juice blend still has plenty of acai to go around. Plus there are subtle notes of acerola and agave, which help smooth out the tartness of the fruit. The drink manages to deliver plenty of flavor, but still feel light in the mouth and have only 100 calories per 11 oz. bottle. Nutritionally, the drink has 600 percent of your daily vitamin C, plus 10 percent iron, 2 percent calcium, making for something that’s more than just empty calories. On the packaging front, we love the design of their curved 11 oz. bottle, which excels in both form (it’s unique and looks great) and function (it feels great in your hand). However, the placement of the flavor name seems like it could be improved, especially since the word “organic” catches your eye first based on its placement and visual treatment. Swapping these two elements might be something to consider. Overall, this is a very well-executed product that is definitely Sambazon’s most mainstream and marketable effort to date. It most definitely blows away other mainstream acai efforts that are currently out there.Reviewed on: 10/26/2009

Acai Blackberry

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 11 oz PET
BevNET Review: One of the first things that we like about this product is that when they say “Blackberry," the product actually has blackberry juice in it (along with acerola and acai). It has a noticeably more tart flavor than the other two varieties, but it’s still within the limits of being enjoyable. We also like that they’ve chosen to sweeten the drink with agave (a low GI sweetener). Used with restraint, it has given the drink a mild sweetness. Also in the mix are natural flavors, organic hibiscus extract, and organic rooibos extract, with the latter two presumably present to help boost antioxidants. Plus, they’ve done a great job with the packaging, which looks and feels very much like a super-premium product that’s geared at the mainstream AND properly portions the product at 100 calories per bottle. The purple backdrop has clear sections cut through it, which gives it a sort of jungle look, while the front panel is polished and clean. The result is something that looks healthy and premium. In summary, this is a very enjoyable product from start to finish. Reviewed on: 10/26/2009

Acai Passionfruit

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 11 oz PET
BevNET Review: From a flavor point of view, this was our favorite of Sambazon’s Antioxidant Elixir line. Really, it boils down to the range of flavor that’s found inside this bottle, starting with the citrus and strawberry flavors that you get from the passionfruit. From there, you get a touch of the juice and agave sweetness, followed by a mild but tart dose of acai. It’s an extremely addictive, almost chuggable combination. And for having just about 100 calories per bottle, we’re impressed with just how much flavor comes out of this bottle. On the outside, this product doesn’t look like the flagship Sambazon brand, having a taller and leaner design that’s clearly an effort to give the product a “skinny” vibe. It works extremely well, both in terms of how it looks and how it feels in your hand. If anything, we’d probably like to see the text elements on the front panel pulled together a bit. Otherwise, we wouldn’t change a thing about this product.Reviewed on: 10/26/2009
