BevNET Review: Simple is a very accurate name to describe this product, with a root beer flavor that is good, but ordinary. The root beer flavor found in this bottle can probably be found in countless others in a nearly identical (or perhaps completely identical) way. It's rather sweet, medium in body, and has slight notes of wintergreen and licorice. Again, there's nothing outstanding about the product, but if you are in the mood for root beer and this is one of your options, it will certainly get the job done. We'd say the same for the packaging, which, with its 12 oz. long neck bottle, has a label wrapped around its midsection. They've done a decent job with the label — at least insofar as they've made something that doesn't look like the stereotypical CSD label. However, their efforts to give the product some personality (namely the little bubbles trailing off the "s" in the logo) don't really mesh with the flannel pattern that provides the label's backdrop. BevNET Review: Like the other flavors of the Simple Soda line, Black Cherry drinks very much like countless other black cherry sodas that are on the market around the country. While that might be good for some consumers who seek flavor that's familiar, for Simple it means that they've given consumers little reason to go out of their way for this product. So, while it's enjoyable, we think they could — and should — do more with this product's formulation. The product's long neck 12 oz. bottle is clean, but maybe a little too simple, with "fun" lacking from the product. They've shown some glimpses of it (like the bubbles on the logo), but they didn’t follow through with the rest of the design. Instead, there's a flannel background, which feels out of place with the rest of the theme. Really, it feels like two totally different products that have somehow been smashed into one. Overall, it's an okay product, but there's nothing about this product that would make us go out of our way for it.Reviewed on: 11/22/2010
