BevNET Review: Blending flax seed and green tea – two good-for-you ingredients – is definitely something that’s going to have appeal with the type of consumer that is roaming the aisle at health and natural retailers. The product pours with a slightly thick body, which is likely the result of the oil from the flaxseed. It has a pretty standard green tea flavor, with the flaxseed, shave grass, and barley extract providing subtle earthy notes. It’s sweetened with cane sugar, which imparts a slight amount of sweetness to the drink and a lingering finish. All in all, it’s a pretty mild-tasting product that’s pleasing to the palate. On the outside, the labels don’t pop as well as the initial two flavors, which is the result of using a white backdrop (the others use gold and purple) and a pastel color scheme. We’re also not convinced that leading with flax (as opposed to green tea, which is more familiar to consumers) makes for the most marketable beverage. Overall, a solid entry, but its positioning could be improved to help make it more marketable. Reviewed on: 5/27/2011
