The "Purple" flavor of Sippin Syrup was the first flavor of the lineup that we sampled. Designed for "extended relaxation," this 16 oz. bottle is designed to contain two servings. Inside the bottle, the product uses a carbonated formulation that tastes like grape soda. It's sweetened with high fructose corn syrup and sugar, so the product has a slightly more viscous body than a straight sugar sweetened formulation might. Functionally, the product has lots of relaxation oriented ingredients, including chamomile, lavender, valerian root, L-theanine, melatonin, rose hips, hops extract, St. John's Wort, skullcap, and kava kava. Whether or not it works will certainly vary based on the user. Packaging is something that gives us some pause, with what appears to be a subtle reference to the mixture of soda and cough syrup (a common reference for this category, unfortunately). Putting that out of the picture for a minute, we think that they have done a nice job of creating something that's different from what else is out there, with a black plastic bottle being very different than some of the more standard looking competition. Overall, decent taste, unique appearance, and a functional cocktail that includes the kitchen sink makes this a product that's worth a shot if you are into relaxation beverages.
