BevNET Review: Slap’s Lemon Ice White Tea Energy Drink is the rebranded version of what used to be the Slap Tea Lemonade White Tea variety. In its new form, the product has a nice balance of flavor to it, with easily distinguishable notes of tea, lemon, and energy flavors. Even with the use of sucralose, the product has no aftertaste, but the level of sweetness is all there. So is the buzz, which comes from a cocktail of 9 energy ingredients (isomaltulose, taurine, maltodextrin, caffeine, red tea, niacin, guarana, yerba mate, pyridoxine hydrochloride) known as their “Energy 9.0” blend. Yes, there’s a slight aftertaste from the functional ingredients, but it’s very light and doesn’t get in the way of the rest of the flavor. The addition of carbonation gives the drink some pop, while a final note of tea flavor gives the product a crisp finish. Packaging has a bright and positive vibe to it, with the old smiley face logo replaced by a new design that features large block letters. While it’s not as fun (or off-kilter) as the original, it makes the product feel like a more credible energy product. If we were to change anything about this package, it would be to make the two separate flavors (“Lemon Ice” and “White Tea Energy”) more cohesive. In its current state, one certainly might wonder what’s actually going to be inside the can. Nitpicking aside, this is a much improved product that manages to look and taste great while delivering some decent energy kick.
