BevNET Review: Sneaky Pete’s Mango Mystique is an oat bran-enhanced beverage that has only 40 calories per bottle. The flavor of this variety has a noticeable oat flavor, and at least from our standpoint, that's a welcome addition. It helps to balance out the mango flavor and it also lets you know that the oat enhancement is real rather than just a marketing ploy. The three sweetener blend (evaportated cane juice, erythritol, and stevia) works well, with the mango and oat flavors masking any aftertaste that might otherwise be present. All in all, it’s a very pleasing formulation -- and the 3g of dietary fiber and 2 grams of soluble fiber are very nice value-adds. On the packaging front, the 12 oz. PET bottle has a full wrap label that definitely conveys a sense of “good for you.” The oats and heart healthy aspect of the product are hard to miss, as is the picture of a mango. The “tag” laying over the graphic reading “Oatstanding Beverage” - which includes the flavor name as well - further aids in portraying this as a healthy product with a craft homemade feel. However, it is a bit confusing on what the name of the product is, is it “Sneaky Pete’s” or is it “Oatstanding Beverage?” Overall, Mango Mystique is a solid tasting product with a a nice balance of oat and mango flavor that is thoughtfully packaged. BevNET Review: Sneaky Pete’s oat bran enhanced Peach Perfection is a 40 calorie beverage that, in contrast to the mango, is a bit heavy on the peach flavoring. It tends to hide any oat flavor provided by the oat bran concentrate. That being said this is a fresh tasting beverage and the peach flavor works well in masking the three sweetener blend (cane juice, erythritol and stevia). Sneaky Pete’s comes packaged in a fully wrapped 12 oz. PET bottle. The “outdoorsy” imagery of the oats and fresh peaches set amongst a blue sky doing a wonderful job of portraying the core attributes of the beverage. For only being 12 oz. the bottle feels and looks substantial, unlike some other 12 oz. packages that are available. Overall, Sneaky Pete’s oat enhanced Peach Perfection may not be quite perfect, is certainly close. Reviewed on: 12/15/2011

BevNET Review: Of the Sneaky Pete’s line of oat enhanced beverages, it is a classic oatmeal flavor, apple, that is the best of the bunch. The product has a spiced apple flavor to it, which is derived from flavoring rather than juice, but it’s accurate and enjoyable. Despite the product marketing itself as an “oatstanding” beverage, there’s no oat flavor to it (the apple masks it), although the body of the drink is slightly viscous (which may be from the oat bran concentrate that is added). Sweetness comes from a blend of evaporated cane juice, erythritol, and stevia, which works very well and has only the slightest aftertaste. Nutritionally, this product has 3g of fiber (the equivalent of a bowl of oatmeal, according the to manufacturer) and is relatively low in calories at 40 per bottle. Packaging is a 12 ounce PET bottle that has been fully wrapped. The design of the label definitely gives the product the appearance of being a healthy product. However, the Sneaky Pete brand seems somewhat at odds with the very clean and more earthy feel of the label. It also begs the question of whether this product is called Sneaky Pete’s or Oatstanding. Finally, we’d like to see a little more emphasis on the flavor name, which is rather small. Still, we think that they’ve done a very nice job of making something that feels healthy and tastes enjoyable and, with a few adjustments, it seems like a product with good potential.
