Lemon Twist

Product Type:Water: Enhanced; Container:
BevNET Review: The Lemon Twist flavor is a bit off, with an overly sweet body that gives way to an unnatural tasting lemon "twist" flavor. This flavor also has a bit more of the protein aftertaste than the other varieties, which is not something that works in this Lemon Twist's favor. And, like the other flavors, the product only delivers 5g of protein per bottle -- hardly enough to really make this product worthwhile. Lastly, is the label design, which uses too many similar shades of yellow and impacts the readability of the cluttered label. Needless to say, this was not an enjoyable flavor.Reviewed on: 10/3/2007

Mixed Berry

Product Type:Water: Enhanced; Container:
BevNET Review: Featuring a cleaned up label, this variety of Special K Protein Water certainly stands out from the others. They've placed the name of the flavor in a more prominent, easier to read area. The flavor, on the other hand, follows the mold of the others, delivering 5g of protein in a 50 calorie (per bottle) formulation that is sweetened with ace-k and sucralose. There's no fruit juice in here, but the flavor gets a passing grade as far as "mixed berry" flavors go. Overall, it's a decent flavor, but not great, and we think that adding a bit more substance to this product's nutritional benefits would potentially broaden its market.Reviewed on: 10/3/2007

Strawberry Kiwi

Product Type:Water: Enhanced; Container:
BevNET Review: For a product flavored with strawberry kiwi and designed to be a protein enhanced drink, this flavor drinks reasonably well, with a moderately sweetened body that delivers only 50 calories per bottle (thanks to an ace-k and sucralose blend). It's not overly natural tasting, but that's pretty typical for strawberry kiwi flavors. There's also not much in the way of sweetener taste, which is definitely a plus. Perhaps the biggest problem with this drink is the relatively low amount of protein that the drink delivers (5g per bottle). We think they could push it a bit more, especially since that pasty protein taste is already present in the finish of the drink. Packaging uses a chaotically designed full wrap label on what's a miniature version of the bottles used in sports drinks such as Gatorade. Overall, it's got decent taste, but not a lot of substance.Reviewed on: 10/3/2007
