BevNET Review: Packed in Sprecher’s distinctive amber 16 oz. glass bottle, “Seasonal Blueberry” is a beverage that was designed to be reminiscent of blueberry pie. Sounds straightforward enough. And what’s inside the bottle is true to form, with a blueberry flavor that is backed by some sweetness from glucose syrup (a sweetener that is more common in beer, which Sprecher also makes) and raw Wisconsin honey. While the notion of raw local honey is a plus, it isn’t something that you can really taste in the product. Furthermore, the use of blueberry juice from concentrate and blueberry flavoring are a bit of a let down as it loses the “seasonal” appeal that they are trying to create. Still, it does taste a lot like blueberry pie, so perhaps they have accomplished what they are going for. On the packaging front, this product looks very much like Sprecher's other products, both non-alcoholic and beer. Visually, it feels like a label that was designed to fit with their existing style rather than to make the cleanest and most compelling label for this particular product. There’s a playful picture of a grey fox playing with blueberries, but, not seeing this with the rest of the brand, it doesn’t really help whet the appetite. Overall, it tastes nice and is a good “seasonal” addition to the Sprecher line.Reviewed on: 10/5/2012
