Like the other flavors of Sprizz-O, this one is a mix of juice (12 percent) and carbonated water. It’s a concept that has, over the past decade, been done many times in other brands. That’s not to say that this is an idea that isn’t open to new brands, but innovating is going to be key for any upstart brand that enters the market. In the case of this product, we’re unfortunately not quite sure that the company has done enough. The mix of carbonated water, grape juice concentrate, cane sugar, grape essence, citric acid and malic acid results in something that has a hint of grape flavor, but, despite the dark color, is much lighter than grape juice or grape soda. Clearly, that’s what Sprizz-O is going for, but the product feels as though it needs a bit more sweetness or fruit flavor to have balance. As it stands right now, the flavor tastes as though it’s missing something. On the outside, the product uses a 12 oz. longneck glass bottle that definitely has a soda like appearance to it. While we like the callout of the product having 50 calories per bottle, the label, much like the flavor, feels somewhat incomplete in that it feels somewhat devoid of personality or an inviting element. Some sort of image would definitely be helpful. All in all, the concept is certainly something that’s viable, but the execution needs improvement to really succeed.
