Chronic Cola

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 8.4 oz can (250 ml)
BevNET Review: The note on this can is to serve it chilled, but that doesn’t seem to help it much. While the Chronic Cola doesn’t have the same odd smell its sugar-free counterpart does, it suffers from chronic over-sweetening. The red can with the bee on the front isn’t going to pull anyone in, either. While we appreciate attempts at cola, which is a fine energy drink flavor, we can’t think of any particular buying group who would actually crave this.

Chronic Cola (Sugar Free)

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 8.4 oz can (250 ml)
BevNET Review: While the Chronic Cola’s flavor is fully in keeping with that of a diluted diet cola, there’s a slightly metallic, more than slightly off-putting smell to the stuff, slightly chemical, that left us wary. The silver and red can is also kind of unattractive; the printing seems faded and anyone who’s ever actually found – or been scared of finding -- a yellowjacket in their soda can is likely to steer clear of this stuff. Still, cola is a fine flavor for energy drinks and one that hasn’t been used enough, and this one is worth a try for that reason alone.

Enraged Raspberry (Sugar Free)

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 8.4 oz can (250 ml)
BevNET Review: Well, this isn’t as bad as we thought it was going to be. Somehow, the folks over at Stacker are better with their use of sucralose than with high-fructose corn syrup, which is their sweetener of choice. That doesn’t mean we liked it, though. There’s less of the weird Stacker smell, but it’s still there, as is a fairly tasteless product with occasional hints of berry flavor.

Pounding Punch

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 8.4 oz can (250 ml)
BevNET Review: What is it about Stacker that makes them want to keep creating these genetically inferior versions of traditionally-flavored beverages? This one is a Bizarro fruit punch -- while it’s 90 percent of the way towards tasting normal, there’s just this off-flavor and smell in the mix, something kind of funky and chemical, that left us wondering if we weren’t being used as guinea pigs for some kind of taste experiment. Again, if you factor in the unattractive bee on the label, there’s not much to recommend trying this, although if you’re a fruit punch fiend, give it a shot.
