BevNET Review: The Vanilla flavor of Starbucks Doubleshot Energy + Coffee was quite pleasing, with the least amount of sweetener aftertaste of the three flavors. Otherwise, the formulation is identical to the others, delivering a smooth but sweet coffee and milk combination with the addition of "energy" ingredients. Like the other flavors, the packaging is good, but a bit too text heavy. Overall, a decent entry, but it's not overly innovative when competitors such as Monster and Rockstar have already been at this category for a while.

I don't think that energy coffees are really in Monster or Rockstar's best interests. Their traditional soda-pop energy drinks are good, but if I happen to want an energy drink that is coffee instead, Starbucks energy+coffee has my approval, in everthing from taste, effectiveness, even 'endorphins'. The only reason I don't give this five stars is the sucralose. So what if it would top 300 calories, I like my drinks straight up...but, that's just my opinion. Overall, Monster and Rockstar coffees were formiddable competitors, but Starbucks won the energy+coffee battle of my palate.(Still favor Monster's Irish Blend, though) I'd like to try the Mocha one and the Coffee one sometime, and maybe even expect some more variety. Hazelnut, Nutmeg, Maple, for example?
