BevNET Review: Using a base of low fat milk that has been mixed with various fruit flavors, “natural energy” (B vitamins, calcium, acai, and ginseng), and live cultures, Shift Berry Boost is definitely a one of a kind “energy” drink. The flavor is sweet and fruity, with a light dairy body that’s on part with low fat milk. There’s also a yogurt-like finish, which is something that probably won’t appeal to everyone. Berry Boost’s fruit flavor also leaves something to be desired, as it doesn’t have a well defined (or natural) taste to it. And in terms of being an energy drink, we think that this product is going to take a big leap of faith from consumers as it tastes a lot more like liquefied yogurt than it does a traditional energy drink. Packaging is clean and colorful, but it feels like something that should sit in the dairy case next to the cheese rather than next to energy drinks. Overall, it’s an OK product that is appealing to an unproven space in the market.Reviewed on: 3/13/2007

BevNET Review: Power Punch was our favorite flavor of the Shift lineup. The fruit flavor is sweeter (but still not too natural tasting) than the other varieties, which helps offset the bitterness that exists from the dairy & cultures. However, this improved fruit flavor also furthers this product’s similarities to a yogurt drink, leaving no “energy” flavor to the product. In fact, with the exception of acai and ginseng, most of the benefits of this product are the same ones typically found in many of today’s dairy products – calcium and B, C, and D vitamins. Overall, it’s a decent product, but there simply isn’t a compelling reason to make us want to purchase this product. Reviewed on: 3/13/2007

BevNET Review: This was our least favorite flavor of the Shift line. The color and flavor are reminiscent of Pepto-Bismol, which is certainly not a positive thing. The flavor is sweet, but fake tasting, with no discernable strawberry and minimal banana flavor present among this dairy heavy product. There’s also 12% juice, but it’s really hard to tell aside from the noticeable presence of apple juice. Overall, this product tastes like it was over concocted, resulting in a flavor that is unnecessarily complex rather than simple and refreshing. While there are certainly merits to its nutritional benefits, we don’t think that this product will appeal to anyone who does not already consume yogurt based beverages. Reviewed on: 3/13/2007
