Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 2 oz PET
BevNET Review: The AM variety of SOS (aka “Strip off Stress”) is a pomegranate citrus flavored shot that’s designed to help give you a morning boost. There's a heavy dose of vitamin flavor before giving way to a fruity, but sour finish. SOS is sweetened with sucralose and acesulfame potassium, which keeps the shot at zero calories but gives it a reasonable amount of sweetness and minimal sweetener aftertaste. Functionally, the shot contains L-theanine, B-vitamins, and glucosamine as its main active ingredients. There’'s no immediate functional feeling from consuming this product; its function is likely at best on par with consuming a daily supplement. Packaging is the biggest issue for this brand, starting with its cluttered front panel and amateurish looking design. The flavor and function are hard to find, with the consumer ultimately left trying to figure out the brand’'s color coding. Plus, the “Strip off Stress” name doesn'’t make much sense and sounds forced. Aside from creating better visuals, we’'d suggest simply calling it “SOS” and leaving off “Strip off Stress.” Overall, this product needs a lot of work.Reviewed on: 2/14/2011

PM

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 2 oz Shot
BevNET Review: Utilizing a berry flavor and the same blend of sucralose and ace-k sweeteners, the PM variety of SOS is more pleasant tasting than its AM counterpart. However, there is nothing that stands out and is on par with other products in the category. Functionally, the product contains a cocktail of melatonin, chamomile, valerian root, glucosamine, L-theanine, and B vitamins. All of these ingredients are found in competing products, so we would expect this product to perform in similar fashion. Ultimately, it’s the packaging that is again the biggest issue with this product. The presentation is messy and unintuitive, which we think will result in consumers picking up other more visually attractive competitors. Reviewed on: 2/14/2011
