BevNET Review: Suavva’s White Cacao Juice is a 70 percent juice blend of cacao puree, apple juice, and water. The base flavor, which is from the cacao puree, is slightly bitter and viscous. As a result, the product has a pretty heavy mouthfeel, with the apple providing a familiar sweetness. Still, the base cacao seems to take away rather from than add to the experience. Unlike other superfruit and superfoods, this product lacks an exotic aspect to its flavor. And, unfortunately, the nutritional claims (antioxidants and theobromine) aren’t enough to win consumers over. Furthermore, labeling the product as “1 ¼” (the fraction is barely visible on the label) servings per bottle is a bad way of getting the product to be under 100 calories (it’s labeled as 90 per serving -- the whole bottle would be just over 110 calories). As for the rest of the packaging, it needs a lot of work, starting with the visual treatment of the brand name (we’re not in love with the name, but good branding and design work could probably make it work). From there, the product has a generic and amateurish look to it. The bottom line is that this drink, which utilizes an ingredient that will be unfamiliar to consumers, will have an uphill battle making this drink seem appealing. And where it stands today, they have a long way to go.Reviewed on: 6/28/2012

BevNET Review: Using a 76% juice blend of cacao puree, apple juice, water, and orange juice, Suavva’s Orange Cacao Juice is a product that is very raw in its execution. Starting with the aroma, which is bitter and uninviting, we think that this product will be difficult even in a sampling scenario. From there, the sweetness of the apple and bitterness of the cacao puree take center stage, with the orange hitting your palate towards the finish. More orange juice and less cacao and apple would definitely help. However, we wonder why they chose to go with a citrus flavor rather than something that plays to what consumers think of (at least American consumers) when they hear cacao (e.g. chocolate). As it stands, the pairing is not something that whets the appetite or is overly enjoyable. Unfortunately, it doesn’t get any better when it comes to the drink’s packaging. Visually, there’s too much going on, with many different fonts and colors that don’t go together. Honestly, in it’s current form we think that the best approach is to start fresh -- there aren’t really any quick fixes otherwise. Overall, Suavva Orange Cacao Juice is a product that, as it stands today, will have limited niche appeal at best. Reviewed on: 6/28/2012

BevNET Review: Editor’s Note: Following the same format as the Orange Cacao flavor, this product substitutes the orange juice for mango puree. Unfortunately, this flavor still has way too much apple and cacao and not enough mango. Plus, the same packaging issues cited in the other reviews still exist.Reviewed on: 6/28/2012
