Sweet Leaf Tea

Sweet Leaf Tea

Manufacturer's Brand Overview [Edit]

The idea for Sweet Leaf Tea was conceived on a road trip through Alabama and Mississippi, where Clayton Christopher was inspired by the quality and abundance of home-made sweet tea being served in local restaurants. Yet for all the delicious iced tea being brewed at home and in restaurants there was no bottled tea on the market that tasted like real iced tea, like the kind that Grandma used to make. So after tasting teas from all over the world and brewing countless batches from old Southern recipes in Clayton's kitchen, Sweet Leaf Tea Company was born. Made from all-natural ingredients, including purified water, pure cane sugar and high-quality organic tea leaves, Sweet Leaf Tea is made and brewed based on Clayton's grandmother's recipe and technique. Sweet Leaf Tea, which is available in 10 classic iced-tea flavors and one lemonade flavor, is available nationwide.

Lemon & Lime Unsweet Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: While we weren't fans of this product the first go around, it seems like things have been improved in more recent editions of Sweet Leaf's Unsweet Lemon and Lime Tea. The flavor has more balance to it, with the base of black tea offering a smooth complement to the slightly acidic fruit flavor that has been added to the mix. For a no-calorie product, this product has plenty of flavor to satisfy the senses -- and without the sugar, it's pretty easy to chug the whole bottle. Speaking of the bottle, the new look is awesome, with a larger label area and a custom glass bottle helping the product's authentic looking image. Overall, a very enjoyable product. Raspberry Iced Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 oz can
BevNET Review: Raspberry Sweet Leaf is a beverage that is very similar in style to the original Sweet Tea blend. This being said, it has a strong black tea base with a clean sweetness from the pure cane sugar that is used as the sweetener. In addition, it has an enjoyable fruit flavor to it that's much better than the "Raspberry and Tangerine" flavor that was initially part of the Sweet Leaf lineup. Combine that with the fact that they've given the brand an attractive looking proprietary glass bottle and you've got a very enjoyable extension to the Sweet Leaf line.Reviewed on: 10/5/2009

Sweet Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 oz can
BevNET Review: Sweet Tea is a true classic southern style iced tea. The concept is so clean and simple: black tea and sugar. The resulting beverage will definitely give you a fix for that great tea flavor you've been looking for. In addition, this product makes a great mixer for your own tea concoctions...Not that we'd know anything about that. A recent upgrade to the product's bottle helps the product stand out from the competition, plus it increases the homemade feeling of the product. Overall, Sweet Leaf Sweet Tea is the original and still the best sweet tea on the market today.Reviewed on: 10/5/2009

Original Lemonade

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 16 fl oz (474 ml) Glass Mason Jars
BevNET Review: Straight up organic lemonade, not from concentrate -- how can you go wrong? The extremely addictive flavor tastes homemade, with the only exception being that it lacks a lot of pulp. Cane sugar and "not from concentrate" juice make a huge difference, while the mason jar gives it a distinct look that stands apart from the category. Overall, an exceptionally well executed twist on an old-fashioned product. Reviewed on: 10/5/2009

Mango Green Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 oz glass, 20oz PET
BevNET Review: Sweet Leaf's Mango Green Tea is a blend of organic (there's an all natural version, too) mango juice and green tea that is sweetened with organic cane sugar. It's a little on the sweet side, but it's not too sweet to the point where we wouldn't drink it. The best part of the drink is arguably the mango flavor, which is extremely natural tasting. In fact, it really hides most of the tea flavor -- but that's OK by us. Packaging is clean and wholesome, just like the other varieties of Sweet Leaf. Overall, an enjoyable addition to the Sweet Leaf lineup that offers well-executed mainstream taste in a polished looking package.Reviewed on: 7/22/2008

Peach

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 oz can
BevNET Review: Peach flavored Sweet Leaf Tea is definitely one of the cleaner peach iced teas we've ever sampled. Starting with a base of premium black tea and flavored with natural peach flavor and pure cane sugar, this product does not have the syrupy consistency that many of the competitors have. However, it's still big on peach flavor -- but not to the point where it eclipses the flavor of the tea. Overall, another fine flavor from Sweet Leaf -- definitely give it a try.Reviewed on: 9/9/2009

Pomegranate Green Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 oz glass, 20oz PET
BevNET Review: Sweet Leaf's Pomegranate Green Tea is a lightly sweetened beverage that delivers a mellow green tea flavor and a slightly fruity finish. It's not a very strong pomegranate flavor, but it's a natural one which is helped by the use of a dash of organic pomegranate juice. All in all, the taste is enjoyable and refreshing, with a flavor profile that's in the middle of the pack in terms of sweetness. The appearance follows suit with the other Sweet Leaf flavors, using a home-style design that gives off a quality vibe. Overall, a very nice addition to the Sweet Leaf lineup.Reviewed on: 7/16/2008

Half & Half

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Sweet Leaf’s Half & Half is the most mainstream entry from this brand to date. The flavor provides an accurate translation of this classic iced tea and lemonade combination. The formulation is well balanced, with just the right amount of lemon juice (10%) to complement the flavor of the black tea. Cane sugar gives the product a homemade feeling (at home, does anyone ever brew iced tea with corn syrup??) and the USDA Organic certification adds an extra boost to the marketability of the product. Packaging is of the same mold as the other Sweet Leaf flavors, giving the product a wholesome, premium appearance. Overall, a great new addition for Sweet Leaf that is simple in concept, but superb in execution.Reviewed on: 12/13/2006

Diet Peach Sweet Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Diet Peach Sweet Tea from Sweet Leaf is honestly one of the best peach flavored sugar-free beverages that we've ever sampled. We were somewhat skeptical of how a peach flavor might work with the full flavor of black tea -- especially in a sugar free formulation. However, it creates a surprisingly sweet and refreshing flavor that does a good job of hiding most of the Splenda aftertaste. Overall, we really like this product and feel that it adds a new dimension to the category -- a sweet flavor and zero calories. Definitely give it a try.Reviewed on: 8/5/2004

Diet Sweet Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: We're usually a bit sceptical of diet iced teas. Often times, they are made with aspartame or some other nasty sweetener that gives the product a horrific aftertaste. Fortunately, Diet Sweet Tea uses Splenda (brand sucralose) which is a new sweetener that leaves very little aftertaste. The resulting beverage is spectacular. It maintains all of the flavor of the original Southern style sweet tea, but with no calories or carbs. Overall, a truly awesome iced tea.Reviewed on: 1/21/2003

Mint & Honey Green Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 oz can
BevNET Review: Sweet Leaf Mint & Honey Tea is a great tasting beverage that uses a green tea base with a complex blend of flavors to create a truly fine product. Not only is this product sweetened with honey and pure cane sugar, but it also has a very nice mint finish to it. Overall, this tea is very light and has a very easy to drink flavor to it. Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 oz glass
BevNET Review: Diet Mint & Honey Green Tea isn't exactly what we think of when we visualize the Sweet Leaf brand, but they've done a surprisingly good job of creating this zero calorie product. While there's a nice minty aroma to the product, we think they've used a touch too much in the body of the product. The honey and green tea flavors, on the other hand, are just about perfect. All of the flavors, including the mint, do a great job of masking the sweetener (sucralose). The level of sweetness is just about right on par with their other flavors. Overall, definitely worth a try.Reviewed on: 7/17/2007

+ Show Product ReviewHibiscus Herbal Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz glass
BevNET Review: Featuring a light hibiscus flavor with hints of cinnamon, spearmint, and lemon -- this product is without a doubt the new king of the Sweet Leaf Tea brand. In addition, it's USDA Organic certified and features a low level of carbs -- two things which will definitely give this product some attention. This product takes the Sweet Leaf brand in a whole new direction, with Honest Tea being the most obvious target. The flavor of Hibiscus Herbal Tea is light and mellow, but extremely flavorful and complex at the same time. Overall, an excellent product.Reviewed on: 4/29/2004
