GT’s “Black Chia” is a blend of GT’s organic raw kombucha, raw chia seeds, and black currant juice. It’s one of the best uses of black currant juice that we’ve sampled, with the tart and sweet flavor adding the perfect backdrop to the light vinegar flavor of the kombucha. The chia seeds add a very unique mouth feel to the drink (hydrated chia is almost gelatinous in body), while also providing a nice transition between the flavor of the chia and the added juice. All in all, it’s a very nice tasting product. From a nutritional standpoint, this flavor has probiotic content (as all raw kombucha does), omega-3 and omega-6, fiber, protein, and antioxidants. The package is the standard GT’s Synergy bottle, which is a cylindrical 16 oz. glass bottle. The label obscures most of the bottle, but you can still see the chia seeds floating throughout. In addition, we think the name “Black Chia” inspires curiosity and has a chic vibe to it that makes it stand out from the rest of GT’s chia flavors. Overall, an extremely enjoyable and well executed product.
