Lemonade

Product Type:Water: Enhanced; Container: 17 oz PET
BevNET Review: The latest addition to the Sparkling Ice lineup is a lemonade flavor. The sparkling lemonade contains three percent juice and is sweetened with sucralose. While the lemonade flavor is very familiar, the bite from the carbonated water combined with the aftertaste of the sucralose overpowers it The lemonade contains 50 mg of green tea extract as well as B-vitamins. The drink comes packaged in a very tall and slender 17 oz. PET bottle. While the tall bottle lines are appealing the package does appear to be a bit top-heavy. The clear label is wrapped around the entire bottle. The white text is difficult to read (partly due to the dishwater color of the liquid inside) and the image of the lemon in an ice cube seems like an overly obvious graphical element. Overall the lemonade flavor is pretty straightforward, especially for a zero-calorie beverage, however the label is a bit hard to read and could benefit from a little polishing. Coconut Pineapple

Product Type:Water: Enhanced; Container: 17 oz PET
BevNET Review: The second addition to the Sparkling Ice lineup is the coconut pineapple flavor. This zero-calorie, Splenda-sweetened product combines a nice blend of pineapple and coconut flavors. The pina colada-esque taste profile is very familiar tasting and provides a nice balance to the Splenda sweetener. In addition this product contains 50mg of green tea extract as well as a host of B-vitamins. On the packaging from the 17 oz. PET bottle is sleek and slender but feels a bit awkwardly top-heavy. Due to the color of the liquid, the white text on the label is much clearer and more readable. However the image of the pineapple and coconut inside an ice cube feels a little too obvious. Overall this is a nice addition to the Sparkling Ice lineup with our only suggestion to play up the “vitamin-enhanced” angle more.Reviewed on: 1/26/2012

Black Raspberry

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Diet; Container: 17 fl oz
BevNET Review: Black Raspberry was the final flavor of the Sparkling Ice line to be sampled. Using blackberry as the source of the 3% juice used in formulating this drink, they've created the strongest flavor and most tart flavor of the bunch. The fuller body makes it a great choice, especially if you are transitioning to this line from a CSD. Packaging is bright and attractive, with a nice choice of dark red on top of a metallic label. In fact, we think that this is the most appealing of the line -- the red colored fluid and design of the label definitely whet our appetite. Reviewed on: 8/25/2008

Harvest Peach

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Diet; Container: 17 fl oz
BevNET Review: Like the other flavors, the difference maker in Harvest Peach is the use of real juice, which, in this flavor, comes in the form of peach juice. That being said, there's a modest peach note to the body of this five calorie product. However, peach juice doesn't seem to be as sweet as the juices used in the other flavors, which leads to a slightly more pronounced sucralose flavor to the drink -- but it's still well below the point where we'd flag this as an issue. The outside of the bottle is attractive, but we're not convinced that the outlined fruit imagery will be overly effective. Specifically, it's hard, at least from afar, to quickly determine what the image is and it fails to whet your appetite the way that colored pictures of fruit can. Our only other issue -- and a very minor one at that -- is the fact that it is so tall and thin, making it prone to spills.Reviewed on: 8/25/2008

Pink Grapefruit

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Diet; Container: 17 fl oz
BevNET Review: Pink Grapefruit Sparkling Ice was our favorite flavor of the lineup. From a flavor point of view, the use of pink grapefruit juice and added carbonation makes for a very refreshing body and has the added benefit of helping to cut the flavor of the sucralose. In terms of the nutrients in the drink, they've added Vitamincs C and D, calcium, iron, and glucosamine -- some good stuff that Talking Rain needs to better promote on the outside of this product. Overall, we love the flavor and like the way the drink looks -- but it would be much better if the flavor and added nutrients were communicated in a more intuitive manner.Reviewed on: 8/25/2008

Orange Mango

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Diet; Container: 17 fl oz
BevNET Review: For having only five calories, Orange Mango Sparkling Ice delivers impressively natural taste. There's real orange juice in the mix, which gives it an enjoyable citrus flavor, while the addition of mango flavoring has accurate execution. The carbonation gives the drink a certain crispness not found in still products, plus it's a point of differentiation where many other entries are going still. Vitamin additives come in the form of Vitamins A, C, and D, with added green tea (for EGCG). Packaging is a tall and narrow 17 fluid ounce plastic bottle which a metallic label stuck around the center of it. In terms of looks, it's attractive, with a female vibe to the design, but we think that they need to promote the "nutrient enhanced" aspect of the drink a bit more.Reviewed on: 8/25/2008

Strawberry Kiwi

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Diet; Container: 17 fl oz
BevNET Review: Strawberry Kiwi isn't the most accurate of the fruit flavors used in this lineup. The drink uses golden kiwi juice, which imparts a mellow kiwi flavor that's true to nature. The strawberry flavoring adds a secondary note, which is good since, like most strawberry flavorings, it tastes more like candy than fruit. Added Vitamin C & D, calcium, magnesium, and glucosamine provide marketable added nutrients, but you'll have to read the nutrition panel to this information. Again, we'd suggest putting this in a more prominent place -- at least on the back panel -- and describing what the purpose of these nutrients are.Reviewed on: 8/25/2008
