BevNET Review: Using a blend of erythritol and stevia, Tazo’s Zero Calorie Iced Chai is an attempt to latch on to the new trend of being zero calorie and “naturally sweetened.” It starts out with a strong chai aroma, but unfortunately the flavor doesn’t quite match up: the taste is actually rather weak, with a watery body that’s quickly overwhelmed by the sweeteners. That said, this feels very much like a product that was first and foremost developed to be a vehicle for stevia (maybe there’s some corporate mandate that each Pepsi brand must have one?). In any event, less sweetener flavor would definitely make this product more enjoyable. On the outside, the product lacks any sort of pop, with the sole exception perhaps being the proprietary bottle. The label feels boring and corporate looking, thanks to a front panel that’s jam-packed with text in different colors and fonts. They’ve left only a tiny area for an image, which simply doesn’t whet the appetite. Overall, this product needs work.
