Review: Strawberry Lemon-Ade

This is our favorite flavor of the initial three flavor varieties that make up the Temple Turmeric Super Lights line. Like the other flavors, this one has 40 calories and 10g of sugars per bottle, the result of a blend of agave and stevia that is used to sweeten the product. The flavor of the product isn’t sweet, but it’s complex, with a layer of earthy Oana Turmeric and ginger that you can taste from start to finish. The added strawberry puree has a very clean taste to it, but it’s very mellow, and there is a touch of lime juice that rounds out the flavor. All in all, the product has a very subtle and smooth taste to it. It really doesn’t need any additional sweetness or flavoring; the company has pretty much nailed it. Visually, this variety and the Hibiscus Berry-Ade have more colorful liquid than what you’ll currently find in Temple’s core line. This certainly helps with differentiation, but otherwise the product very much follows the same label structure and branding. The bottle, which is a taller 12 oz. bottle than the brand's core line, is only subtly different. That being said, we wonder if the “Super Lights” callout shouldn’t be a bit bigger than it currently is. Regardless, we really like Temple’s effort to bring a lighter -- and presumably more palatable -- product to the masses. Finally, we like how they are now starting to brand the Hawaiian turmeric that they use as “Oana Turmeric.” This is a nice way to attempt to communicate that all turmeric isn’t the same. Overall, this is a very well-crafted and enjoyable product.
