BevNET Review: Tonix Energy Soda is a new low calorie energy drink (or soda, depending on the part of the label you read) sweetened with a blend of cane sugar and stevia. Cutting the stevia with sugar seems like a decent idea, allowing the drink to be low calorie and all natural at the same time. Plus, it has a full calorie level of sweetness which should allow the drink's soda like berry flavor to have broad appeal. Sticking with the concept of an energy soda, Tonix's energy cocktail (which includes B vitamins, acetyl-L carnitine, arginine, glutamine, milk thistle and taurine) is pretty mild and has a mellow 53 mg of caffeine per 12 oz bottle. The look of the label is reasonably appealing, but the stock bottle is going to make this product have a hard time looking like a credible energy player. Plus, we think that they should make it more obvious that this drink doesn't have artificial sweeteners. Overall, a nice tasting drink, but the positioning of the drink as an energy soda is a risky move for any upstart.Reviewed on: 1/16/2008
