Mango Lime

Product Type:Functional: Relaxation Drink; Container: 12 oz aluminum bottle
BevNET Review: Mango Lime is the second flavor to be added to the ViB lineup. It, too, is a relaxation drink, with B vitamins, amino L-theanine, L-threonine, and lycii berry (aka goji berry) making up the functional mix. In this case, they’ve increased the levels of L-theanine and L-threonine, but the package doesn’t offer an explanation as to what difference this will make. That being said, consumers will likely choose which flavor and package design they like better. As for the flavor, this variety delivers an enjoyable fruit flavor with a mild vitamin and sweetener aftertaste. While it’s definitely drinkable, it could probably be more accurate in terms of actually tasting like mango and lime. Right now, it would probably be more accurately named “tropical citrus.” Packaging has a look that fits with what the drink is all about, complete with a vibrant photo of a tropical beach. On this variety, they’ve switched up the location of the flavor and also added an accent graphic of a lime, which makes for an inconsistent look between the two products. Hopefully, they’ll choose one approach for both varieties in the future. Overall, it’s a good entry, but we’d choose the Pomegranate Berry flavor over this one.Reviewed on: 9/14/2009

Pomegranate Berry

Product Type:Functional: Relaxation Drink; Container: 12 oz aluminum bottle
BevNET Review: ViB Chill-N ViB, which stands for "Vacation in a Bottle”, is a relaxation drink flavored with pomegranate and berry flavors. Using a blend of ace-k, sucralose, and cane sugar, the drink has a medium level of sweetness and a crisp body with trace notes of the added vitamins. Still, the pomegranate berry flavor is very enjoyable, with a taste that’s slightly tart and slightly sweet. There's a slight sweetener aftertaste that's left behind, but it’s definitely tolerable and the drink is still very enjoyable. As for ViB's functional ingredients, there's a cocktail of B vitamins, L-theanine, L-threonine, and lycii berry (aka goji berry). Unlike a caffeine-laden energy drink, ViB's "functionality" is likely to be less immediate, so having enjoyable flavor (which it does) is of paramount importance. The new packaging (yay, a bottle!) is attractive, with much better presentation than the original can. The tall slim bottle makes more room for the sunset backdrop, plus they’ve eliminated the “Chill-N” tag from the original. Plus, the “Drink. Chill. BE HAPPY!” text is a nice accent to the cleanly arranged front panel. Overall, a much improved product that’s one of the more enjoyable tasting relaxation drinks that we’ve tried.Reviewed on: 9/14/2009

ViB

Product Type:Functional: Relaxation Drink; Container: 12 oz can
BevNET Review: ViB Chill-N ViB, which stands for "Vacation in a Bottle" (even though it's a can -- go figure), is a relaxation drink flavored with pomegranate and berry flavors. Using a blend of ace-k, sucralose, and cane sugar, the drink has a medium level of sweetness and a crisp body with trace notes of the added vitamins. However, the berry flavor is decent, but not really identifiable as pomegranate. In addition, there's a moderate sweetener aftertaste that's left behind, which definitely hurts the way that we feel about this product. As for ViB's functional ingredients, there's a cocktail of B vitamins, amino acids, and lycii berry (aka goji berry). Unlike a caffeine laden energy drink, ViB's purported "functionality" is going to be less immediate and, therefore, might impact the credible of its function. Otherwise, the drink seems quite similar to Airforce Nutrisoda in terms of both flavor and functionality. Packaging is decent, but looks like a first effort, especially with the wrapped (rather than painted) can. Our biggest issue with the design is the "Chill-N" tag, which seems a bit extraneous to the design. Overall, ViB is a decent tasting and looking product whose biggest challenge will be convincing the consumer that it's non-energy function is credible and worth consuming on a regular basis.
