Watermelon Aloe

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 16.9 oz PET
BevNET Review: Vivaloe’s Watermelon Aloe is hands down the best tasting aloe vera drink that we’ve had to date. And with an awesome tasting blend of watermelon juice and aloe, it seems like it will be a tough flavor to beat – these two flavors go together perfectly. Compared with other watermelon juice drinks that we’ve had in the past (which can often be too strong or sweet), the aloe vera seems to balance the flavor and give it a very refreshing and light mouth feel. What’s even more interesting is that the aloe chunks taste almost like pieces of watermelon (they clearly absorb the flavor and have about the same consistency as watermelon). That said, we think that consumers who have never had an aloe drink with pulp (or maybe who have had it and don’t like it) will find this product to be enjoyable. Finally, there’s the packaging, which, in previous reviews, we’ve found to be slightly confusing due to the type treatment used on the name. In addition, we’d like to see more emphasis on the watermelon than the aloe (perhaps by adjusting the name and making the watermelon graphic at similar scale to the aloe vera graphic). Otherwise, they’ve done a nice job of making something that whets the appetite. Overall, really amazing flavor that will probably convert many consumers into aloe believers. Reviewed on: 8/1/2011

Honeydew Aloe

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 16.9 oz PET
BevNET Review: Vivaloe’s Honeydew Aloe is one of the more unique tasting aloe vera drinks that we’ve sampled. For starters, the blend is cut with stevia, which is presumably a move to cut calories and carbs. Second, the pairing of honeydew and aloe vera is an original flavor combination – and it works pretty well. Aside from the slight chew to the added pulp, there’s also a note of apple, but it’s a little too strong for our liking. The stevia is undetectable up until the finish, which leaves a lingering note of the sweetener. And at 140 calories per bottle (vs. 160 for the other stevia free flavors), the benefits are hard to realize. Packaging is a square hot fill bottle, which is similar to just about every other aloe drink on the market today. However, they’ve created one of nicer looking labels, with a clean look that definitely has a vibe of good for you. Lastly, there’s the brand name, which we think consumers might stumble on (is it “Viv-Aloe”, “Viva-Aloe”, or “Viva-loe”). Overall, it’s an enjoyable entry, but we’re on the fence as to whether or not this product can build a loyal following. Reviewed on: 5/10/2011

Original Aloe

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 16.9 oz PET
BevNET Review: Vivaloe’s “Original Aloe” variety features a blend of aloe vera, honey, and sugar (with other ingredients), which results in a cleaner flavor than the two flavored varieties. There’s a nice note of honey in the product, which pairs well with the aloe vera (they might want to consider calling it Honey Aloe). And that’s really all there is to this product’s flavor, aside from the unique consistency of the aloe vera pulp. Compared with some of the other aloe drinks that we’ve sampled, Vivaloe Original has a light mouth feel, which we think will help it appeal to a broader base of consumers. The pulp is still going to be a roadblock for some, but fortunately for Vivaloe that’s an issue for the competition, as well. Packaging is a 16.9 oz. square bottle, which they’ve given a soothing and clean look. It fits well for this type of product, which is ultimately trying to translate the soothing benefits of aloe vera into liquid form. Overall, it’s very enjoyable and definitely one of the better aloe vera entries out there. Reviewed on: 5/10/2011
