Wai Koko Coconut Water

Product Type:Juice: Coconut Water and Juice; Container: 17.5oz Can
BevNET Review: Wai Koko's Coconut Water is a not from concentrate coconut water that is packaged in a 17.5 oz can. Inside the can, you'll find flavor that's extremely similar to other products that come in this package. While it is definitely as delicious and thirst-quenching as the competition, it’s ultimately a formulation that seems pretty interchangeable. Visually, the product has a Hawaiian theme, which, if nothing else, feels slightly less serious than brands that use the blue beach theme. However, the brand itself doesn't feel fully developed and, given that the coconuts don’t actually come from Hawaii, it’s not obvious what exactly they are trying to achieve with this product. Is this a commodity play? Is it a value brand? Or is this the foundation for something that will be fleshed out more? From our perspective (where we've seen plenty of products try to go after the first two paths), we hope that this is a product that will be expanded upon, be it in other flavors or packages. As it stands right now, we're honestly not sure what this product offers that can't already be found on the market today. Still, it’s a good tasting product and one that probably has some place in the market so long as the coconut water category stays hot. Reviewed on: 3/22/2013
