Raw & Yummy D-Tox Tonic

Product Type:Juice: Coconut Water and Juice; Container:
BevNET Review: Unlike the other flavors that we sampled, Raw & Yummy D-Tox Tonic has only trace amounts of carbonation to it. Since the carbonation is the result of fermentation, that means this flavor also has lighter levels of fermented flavor compared to the other products that we sampled. As far as what’s inside this product, it’s a blend of water, young coconut water, rooibos, astragulas, yucca, burdock root, and agave nectar. The mixture is extremely flavorful, with notes of tea, coconut water, and agave mixing to create an earthy taste that has just a hint of sweetness. What’s even more impressive is that the 12 oz. bottle has just 45 calories and is loaded with vitamins, 3 g of fiber, and 2 g of protein. Packaging makes clever use of a bottle that’s typically used for condiments, but they’ve given the product a cool looking label that stands out from the many “crunchy” themed products that the drink will compete with. Our only constructive criticism is that the message needs to be delivered more succinctly and that it’s unclear what the brand name is. Overall, the drink itself is the full package, blending nutrition and flavor, but the outside needs a little cleanup. Reviewed on: 4/21/2009

Raw Chi Energy Tonic

Product Type:Juice: Coconut Water and Juice; Container:
BevNET Review: Made with “raw” ingredients that include organic young coconut water, juices (pineapple, pear, goji, pomegranate, acai, bilberry and others), and herbal ingredients. The drink is sweetened with agave, which is also predigested by the live enzymes from the organic young coconut water. The resulting beverage has natural carbonation and the flavor of slightly fermented coconut water. There’s also a slightly fruity note to the finish, which pairs well with the bite from the fermentation. The complexity of the flavor is extremely impressive, especially with the drink’s light body and nutritional benefits as a probiotic drink. Plus, with only 45 calories, vitamins, fiber, electrolytes, and protein, it’s one of the most well rounded drinks we can remember sampling. Packaging is the same 12 ounce bottle used throughout the line, although the black backdrop makes it stand out amongst the other flavors. It also helps readability, which was an issue with some of the other flavors. Lastly, we like the use of the word “energy”, which is something that should add a bit of marketability to this flavor. Overall, this was our favorite flavor of the line. Reviewed on: 4/21/2009

Raw Superfood Tonic

Product Type:Juice: Coconut Water and Juice; Container:
BevNET Review: This is a very palatable drink that features organic young coconut water, organic rooibos tea, organic goji berries, organic maca, organic acai berries, and organic agave nectar. It’s a truly unique drinking experience, blending tea flavor with a touch of juice and a light amount of natural carbonation (from fermentation of the young coconut water). Unlike a kombucha drink, the carbonation is much more manageable, as is the fermented flavor, making it a complementary flavor rather than an overpowering one. From a nutritional point of view, this product is quite unique, delivering 3g of fiber, 2g of protein, electrolytes, vitamins and antioxidants while weighing in at only 45 calories per bottle. Packaging is unique and, for the most part, appealing, with the eye immediately going to the white bird and red lettering. On the other hand, there’s too much text in a font that’s somewhat difficult to read, especially with the choice of colors. Lastly, the “Conscious Wellness” badge seems a bit misplaced with the otherwise hip looking design. Overall, we absolutely love what’s inside the bottle, but we hope to see the label design evolve into something that’s cleaner. Reviewed on: 4/21/2009
