WheyUP

Manufacturer's Brand Overview [Edit]

WheyUP, The Original Protein Drink with ENERGY, is the first of it's kind that combines a non-carbonated sugar free energy drink with 20g of whey protein. WheyUP is ideal as a pre-workout drink where you get the recommended amount of protein and energy in one drink. With 20g of whey protein, 1 g of carbs, 90 calories, zero fat and no sugar, WheyUP is an excellent drink for those on high protein/low carb diets. WheyUP is a great way to add protein to your diet and energy to your day.

Wild Berry

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 16 fl oz
BevNET Review: Repackaged and reformulated, the Wild Berry flavor of Whey Up is significantly improved over previous versions that we sampled. The product packs 20g of protein (with 90 calories and only 1 carb), B vitamins, calcium, and caffeine into each 16 oz bottle. The flavor has noticeable traces of the whey protein and sucralose, but they've improved the berry flavor to the point where the aftertaste has been reduced. On the outside, we like the concept of the new look, but the execution is a bit off. Specifically the entire bottle is wrapped, including the top portion of the bottle, which uses a less than attractive clear plastic wrap. These two points aside, this is definitely one of the more palatable protein drinks out there, plus we like the "2 drinks in 1" approach with the added energy. Overall, an enjoyable product that needs a few minor improvements.Reviewed on: 5/14/2008

Tropical Citrus

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 16 fl oz
BevNET Review: The new addition to the Whey Up lineup is Tropical Citrus which, like its counterpart, features 20g of whey protein in a sugar free formulation. We enjoyed this flavor over the Wild Berry, mainly because the naturally acidic flavor of the citrus flavor helps cut the pasty flavor of the protein. The result is an enjoyable fruit flavor that has slightly less aftertaste. Packaging is really what needs the most improvement, with the full wrap bottle ending up looking a bit sloppy. Overall, improved taste and packaging, but it still needs a little more to cross the finish line.Reviewed on: 5/14/2008

WheyUP

Product Type:Sports Drinks: Fitness and Supplement Drinks; Container: 16 fl oz (473ml) can
BevNET Review: Billed as "Total Body Fuel", Whey Up combines attributes from an energy drink and a protein drink into one. The non carbonated formula has only 1 carb and zero sugar, which gives the berry flavored drink a potent sour punch. The flavor is drinkable, but somewhat medicinal in taste, which is likely due in part to the sucralose sweetener and the protein additives. Making the sweetness taste more natural and making the sour flavor more mellow would improve the drink greatly. The packaging for Whey Up is a 16 oz. can with a shrink wrapped label. The color scheme and fonts are nice, but they name "Whey Up" sounds like something found at a vitamin shop as opposed to a mainstream retailer or c-store. Otherwise, we think they've done a good job of stating what the drink is and its intended purpose -- it just needs a bit of help in formulation and appearance to maximize consumer appeal for the drink.Reviewed on: 5/10/2007
