Product Type:Functional: Energy Shot; Container: 3 oz
BevNET Review: White Horn Energy Shot is a 3 oz. shot that has also been enhanced with resveratrol, an antioxidant known for its anti-aging properties. The flavor of the drink, which is sweetened with acesulfame potassium and sucralose, is medicinal and boasts an artificial sweetener aftertaste. While it’s definitely not the worst tasting energy shot that we’ve ever sampled, it’s also far from the best. But, as many energy shot marketers will say, you’re probably not drinking this product for the flavor. And on that front, White Horn’s approach to their product is innovative, with both energy and anti-aging functions being touted on the front of the bottle. Functionally, the product relies on trans-resveratrol for anti-aging and a cocktail of vitamins, taurine, glucuronolactone, and caffeine for energy. While it certainly provides some energy buzz, the effects of the resveratrol cannot be felt upon consumption. Ultimately, this makes us wonder if the pairing of these two functions is something that there’s actually a market for, with anti-aging likely part of a health regimen and energy being more impulse-driven. Packaging is rather messy; white horn's name and branding seem like something that will be difficult for consumers to connect with. Plus, the visual execution needs improvement, with loads of text making a visually messy front panel appearance. All in all, while this product needs a lot of work, there does seem to be a good concept in there somewhere.
