BevNET Review: XAPP’s Apple Grape variety is a carbonated protein fitness drink that contains a whopping 40 g of protein per 24 oz. can. It’s also fortified with potassium, calcium, and magnesium, but, despite its looks and use of carbonation, the product does not contain energy drink ingredients. That being said, we like that the product has a singular focus that and does it well. Flavor is, at least as far as protein drinks go, quite drinkable, with a pleasant tart and tangy fruit flavor to it. We taste more apple than grape, with the bitter protein flavor masking the grape flavoring. The use of sucralose keeps the calories in check at 170 per 24 oz. can, while a moderate amount of sweetener aftertaste is noticeable at the finish. The can design is clean and technical looking, which definitely bolsters the credibility of the product. Plus, the prime placement of the text reading “40 g carbonated protein” text makes it pretty obvious as to what this drink is all about.
