XS Energy Drink: Gold

BevNET Review: XS Energy Drink "Gold" is a superfruit flavored energy drink that's enhanced with Essentra (a GRAS certified ingredient from NutraGenesis). First, there's the taste of the drink, which is an extremely enjoyable blend of "superfruit" flavors, including acai, mangosteen, blueberry, and pomegranate. Aside from the natural sugars in the juices, the product is sweetened with ace-k and sucralose, resulting in 12 calories and 1.5g of carbs per can. From a taste point of view, this might be our new favorite of the XS brand. Packaging is clean and attractive, although it's not immediately obvious why they call it "Gold" or what the phrase "Energy Plus" means. From our perspective, this is a superfruit flavored energy drink that makes claims similar to other energy drinks out there -- so we'd prefer to see mention of the superfruit flavoring in place of the conceptual "energy plus" tag.
