Immunity

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 16oz Plastic
BevNET Review: Zen Pure Press’s Immunity is a blend of green apple, carrot, garlic, ginger, and parsley that is delivered in raw cold pressed form. The flavor of this product is a bit deceiving, with carrot being the only flavor that you taste when you first sip it. However, the garlic and ginger hit your palate on the tail end, giving the product a level of complexity that is definitely a welcome addition. As far as the parsley and the green apple are concerned, we’re not quite sure what happened to them. But if they followed normal ingredient list convention, which lists ingredients in the order of the volume they make up in the serving, green apple certainly wouldn’t be first. Visually, there are some subtle differences in this product’s label, namely a “Fresh. Cold. Pressed.” callout directly below the logo. While we think this is a step in the right direction, they still need to do more with the front panel of this drink. Eliminating the “zero effort nutrition” and moving the “David Allen Nutrition” to the back would be a great starting point. And while we’re at it, adding a real nutrition panel and ingredients list would be very helpful and improve transparency and authenticity of the product. Overall, a nice start, but it definitely needs work if it’s going to compete with some of the other raw juice brands that are coming to market. Reviewed on: 3/5/2013

Glow

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 16oz Plastic
BevNET Review: Of the two green-colored juices that we sampled from Zen Pure Pressed, this was the less sweet and more balanced of the two. It blends cold pressed raw cucumber, celery, fennel, arugula, and green apple to create something that has a yin and yang of sweet and vegetable flavor. It’s not overwhelming to the palate, and it seems like a mix that could be enjoyed even by those who are new to green juices. If anything, a little bit of lemon to round out the flavor would be a nice adjustment. As it stands right now, the cucumber, celery, and green apple are probably the most easily identifiable flavors. Packaging is a 16 ounce plastic bottle, with a busy label that is certainly not the best cold pressed juice label that we’ve seen. For starters, it’s super busy, to the point where you don’t know what the brand name is unless you look closely at the label. Also, we don’t like the like the functional claim of “skin enhancer and weight loss.” Staying focused on the cleanse aspect of the product and mentioning that it's raw and cold pressed would be a more marketable approach. Overall, a good start, but the branding seems like the weakest link.Reviewed on: 3/5/2013

Chai High

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 16oz Plastic
BevNET Review: Chai High is one of the more interesting flavors of the bunch, although it’s not clear from the packaging as to whether or not this product includes raw ingredients. The flavor includes coconut milk, almond milk, water, toasted fennel, cinnamon, cardamom, and pea protein (an up and coming vegan source of protein). Also, there is some form of sweetener in this product, but they do not list what it is. The product is complex in flavor, with the base of almond milk having a slight coconut flavor from the coconut milk. From there, sweetness and spice take over, delivering a nice riff on the classic chai tea flavor. However, there’s something about this product that doesn’t taste quite right, as it has a slightly gummy mouthfeel; almost as if they’ve added an unlisted emulsifier to it. Regardless of the source, it’s something that should be addressed. Visually, our feedback is the same as the other flavors: clean up the front label and try and make it more aesthetically appealing. It’s sorely lacking in that department right now. Overall, a decent flavor, but it’s certainly in need of refinement. Reviewed on: 3/5/2013

Agni Elixer

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 16oz Plastic
BevNET Review: Designed to be a “digestive and iron infuser,” this flavor of Zen Pure Pressed is made with ginger, lemon, lime, spinach, alkaline water, and agave. The product tastes, first and foremost, like a lemonade, with a tart hit of lemon and lime that have been paired with the sweetness of agave. The ginger and spinach are presented in the finish, but otherwise seem like bystanders to the core flavor of the product. That said, we’d like to see more ginger and spinach, which we think would give it a more healthful flavor profile. Visually, the 16 ounce bottle neglects to mention the fact that this is raw cold pressed juice (obviously with the exception of the water and agave). In addition, it could use a professional design overhaul, with a relatively unappealing look to the label (including a drab green color to the label that matches the color of the liquid). Overall, nice mainstream flavor, but the branding and design undermine the product’s credibility.Reviewed on: 3/5/2013
