Zulu Nectar's first product: Awimoweh is a Certified Organic (UDSA) Rooibos based RTD beverage in 16oz. glass. It boasts, tested antioxidant levels equivilent to 25 servings of fruit & Vegetables... 5X the 5-a-day recommended intake by the National Institute on Aging, in one bottle. Developed to "fortiry the warrior within" Awimoweh is caffeine-free and not sweet, with only 4 grams of sugar in an 8 oz. serving... Refreshing and uncommon with a hint of Blackberry and presented as a tribute to Solomon Linda, the South African Zulu who recorded "Mbube" in 1939 which we now recognize as "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."

BevNET Review: Zulu Nectar "Awimoweh" is a lightly flavored / sweetened rooibos tea that uses a USDA Organic formulation. The taste is mellow and mild, with subtle notes of rooibos throughout. It has about 40 calories and 8g of sugar per bottle, so it won't way you down. Honestly though, it feels like something is missing with this product -- the finish just isn't right. We'd suggest using another flavor in the mix, perhaps something like honey to help round out the light rooibos flavor. The second issue with this product is the branding and packaging. The word "nectar" implies juice, which this product is most definitely not, and the label design is unappealing and hard to figure out. We'd suggest making it more clear that this product is a tea AND we'd drop the "nectar" from the name. Overall, Zulu Nectar needs a lot of work.Reviewed on: 9/11/2006
