As the fast-growing segment continues to evolve, established brands, including Blueprint, Evolution Fresh and Daily Greens, have turned to smaller sizes and lower priced offerings as a way to expand distribution in conventional retailers. Meanwhile, smaller companies, lacking the resources to compete on a national level, are focusing sales efforts regionally. On the innovation front, some brands are turning to plant-based protein and probiotics as a way to offer added functionality.
