At a presentation to investors yesterday, Kerry Group CEO Edmond Scalon announced that the Irish global nutrition and food conglomerate had acquired Ganeden, an ingredient company focused primarily on gut health and probiotics.
Ganeden thinks it’s found a solution for brands looking to add probiotics to shelf-stable products. At Natural Products Expo West 2017, the company announced the soft launch of Staimune, a new ingredient that finally gets around the refrigeration issue that Ganeden president Michael Bush called “the Achilles’ heel of probiotics.”
The findings are being released less than two months after Ganeden's 24th study was published, confirming that the patented and science-backed strain enhances the body's utilization of animal-based protein and helps with muscle recovery.
Previously Ganeden’s senior vice president, Bush’s new role will allow him to focus on Ganeden’s strategic business development and help manage the company’s massive growth both domestically and internationally.
