  • The "extreme" Category Is Here, will It Be Able To Stay Is The Question ?

It seems like the ED market is getting saturated with all products with consumption of caffeine less than 250 total mg in there entire bottle or can etc..! SO HERE COMES THE VERY LETHAL " EXTREME " ED CATEGORY !! All products with more than 275mg-600mg !!

    WHEN IS ENOUGH....ENOUGH !!

IS THERE GOING TO BE A DIVISION OF A HOSPITAL THAT TREATS CAFFEINE ADDICTS THAT OVERDOSE ON ED'S !!!

    WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ?

    thanks !!

    Thanks for the feedback !! 2 Monsters & 1 RB interesting !!

i personally have a redline 6am.. very active...and a rejuvenating, recover type of drink with no caffeine at 1pm...So it's all about your lifestyle !! If your busy and you know you have to keep yourself going because you have a full agenda for the day. Than you have to do, what you have to do in order to fulfill your energy needs !!

I'm a heavy ED drinker in the sense that I'm approaching on the order of 2 16oz per day or so (Monster at home, Red Bull at work). I seem to be developing a tolerance for caffeine, but not to an extent that it's tremendously noticeable.

I'm actually not very active beyond the demands of my job (bartender, which can get hectic on weekends), though beyond my job I'd say that my lifestyle isn't tremendously demanding.

Thanks BriGuy20 for the reply you seem like an educated young man !

But you do mention that you are a heavy e drinker in what sense, what makes you a heavy e drinker ?

** my guess is you are consuming 300-600mg caffeine per day that equates to 2-3 e drinks depending on which ones ofcourse , i am guessing 1 RS=360 & 2 RB's=160 **520mg there but i am going out on the limb and saying you are consuming more because of you mentioning your acceptance of tolerance towards ed's !! And more importantly are you active ? Or are you banging them out because you have a busy schedule & lifestyle to fulfill !!

    i appreciate your feedback !!

Just a guess. My hunch is that the heavy ED drinkers (such as myself) will transition over to the higher caffeine brands once they develop a high tolerance, and my hunch is that these heavy drinkers make up about 10-15% of the market.

I think as the ED market expands, the potential market for high-caf brands will go up as well, but high-caf adoption will lag a bit behind ED adoption.

Might be an interesting comparison looking at Starbucks: How many of their customers get doubleshots (or more) in their drinks?

    interesting ?

BriGuy.. i find it interesting that you think 10 - 15 % will be the portion of the " extreme " category !!

Just curious how you came up with the number ? a guess perhaps ?

    thanks !!

I think there's a market, but it will be small compared to the rest of the energy drink market (maybe 10-15%).

This will be the next step for caffeine addicts.

    greg...JUST CAME ACROSS THIS !!

......The government is already knee deep in our personal lives. We need to take personal responibility for our own lives.
The government will have all drink makers put the caffeine content on the labels next year of every drink made, supplement or not. Perhaps then we will move forward to having to teach people to read before they buy ED's because the manufacturer is to irresponsible to insure that its potential consume can read.

    THIS IS A START !!!!!

It should be the responsibility of the supplier to let the perspective consumer know what is exactly in there product !!

This should be regulated by the govt and approved by the FDA !! THIS WILL WEED ALL THE HARMFUL ED'S OUT ON THE MARKET !!

but reread the blog again...the kid admits she was be reckless and irresponsible. She has a mental and possibly physiological dependency on caffeine, or what she thinks is a mental and physiological dependence. It could be a kid that wants everyone to think she is cool !

greg regardless SHE STILL HAS A PROBLEM it doesn't matter what it is mental, psychological etc.. she still has a dependency on ed's AND THAT TO ME IS A PROBLEM !! 6-11 anywheres between 400mg-1200mg caffeine mixed with all that sugar !!

The intent of the blog was to show you all that there is an issue in this country among all the others !! it is sad to know that the government will do very little about it until there are major deaths and the families of the victims will get backed by politicians ( because we all know they have to have a purpose in the circle ) and than there will be legislation passed for a c store owner to i.d. under age un educated ed users !! How does the c store owner know if the ed user is un educated ? DOES THE ED USER HAVE TO WALK AROUND WITH AN ED CARD ? EVERYTIME HE OR SHE PURCHASES AN ENERGY DRINK THE OWNER PUNCHES THE CARD !! NO MATTER WHAT THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A BLACK MARKET and a way for any persons to get anything they want !!!

As far as the BMX thing goes I personally don't see it. I go back to price on this. My drink cost twice as much as most 16oz drinks. If a guy is buying ED's for his own nostalgic feelings concerning his days of youth riding a bike around a dirt track then so be it. But it remains that he must KNOW what he is buying. I have never just bought anything just to buy it and then try and figure out what it is later.
It's not the nostalgic feelings he had, it's the TRUST of the brand name (NOT That He Did at all know what Redline was). Like the name Johnson & Johnson, a lot of small and large business have Johnson in the name. Johnson Doors, Johnson hardware, Johnson travel, and so on. It is a trusted brand name and I can name more then that. I was not trying to pin on you I was just trying to prove a point that 8oz was just not enough tasty Redline for that man. Like the girl that drank a bunch of 8oz drinks.

QUESTION FOR ALL, since all this has started has anyone had this happen with a 16oz??? I would think it is much harder to get down a full 32oz of ED before felling it. When I buy a 44oz fountain I only get 24 to 27oz of soda because of the ice....IMO

I will say one thing, having to consume a 16 or 24 take a little longer to drink giving the supplements more time to take effect. I will usually not finish a Rage by the time I get about half way through to the end, I do feel it and there are times when I'm hitting it hard and want the whole can. But I know where I'm, at about the half way mark.

I'm not saying for these EDs to double up and create a 16 oz. I'm saying to stretch it out over 16oz because one thing is for sure if all this does cause the Government (FDA) to step in we will not be able to explain that it can make a difference between 8 and 16oz, we just will not be able to create these drinks at all out side some limited to the tilt guide line.

The thing is we are all right. Every answer has a good point but not every answer has the best outcome. I do agree with Greg and to say that the consumer has a responsibility to watch what they eat and drink but like Beer and smokes and other age restricted consumer items the manufactures has the responsibility to educate the end seller, DSD, and anyone else that deals with the consumer we so desperately need to be successful.

She said that I had to go to the hospital, and the docters had to pump my stomach. This was the scariest moment in my life, and even though I was being dumb, I am still addicted to energy drinks. If I had the chance to quit I would have put my life on it. But, now my life depends on them. I have spend more then 300$ a month on them. I wanted to tell people how bad they are and how they can run your life.

I wish we had 24oz Zero Carb here. I can tell you that a 20oz Mountain Dew gives me more of a boost than one of those 9oz iced starbucks drinks they sell at the C-store. I just tried one for kicks, and I found a $1.25 Mountain Dew did the job better.

Why does size matter? Most if not all people buy the 24oz to drink the whole thing. What is the difference between 360mgs of caffeine in an 8oz drink and 360mgs in a 24oz drink????? NOTHING!
