Review: Delta Blues Spearmint-Infused Iced Tea Punch

Packaged in a bottle that looks like a jar of barbecue sauce, this “Spearmint-Infused, Deep South Iced Tea Punch” hits you pretty hard. There’s a ton of sugar, which isn’t necessarily inconsistent with southern-style iced tea, but there’s this spearmint taste that makes the whole thing taste kind of fruity – and that fruit flavor is enhanced by the addition of lime and orange juice concentrate, as well as ascorbic acid – making it feel like one is actually chewing through the tea as much as one drinks it. A look at the label – which features a picture that might as well be a background still for “Song of the South” -- reveals that one of the suggested uses for this stuff is as a marinade. We agree. This iced tea would make a terrific marinade. Still, it’s worth a try for those who are fans of strong, sweet teas.
