Diageo Account Consultant

The Account Consultant is responsible for implementing initiatives supporting Diageo's reserve brands in the on-premise luxury environment. The DAC's role will be to create long-lasting relationships and brand affinity for Diageo reserve brands within the beverage community and to engage the community in a supportive symbiotic capacity. The net result of these activities is increased and improved perception of the Diageo reserve brands as innovation drivers within the on-premise.

This includes:

Trade Facing Activity

  • Becoming a trusted coach and respected voice of authority in the beverage space based on business acumen and brand and category knowledge
  • Supporting account initiatives by providing expert business consultation to owners and influencers (helping develop best practices for inventory management, calculating pour cost, building social media presence, etc)
  • Representing the entire Portfolio of Diageo reserve brands, and serving as the key liaison between the portfolio, distributor, and trend-leading (TLA) accounts- (segmentation of accounts based on audience profile)
  • Identifying what assets/programs will generate greatest success in TLA accounts, including
    • Scheduling National Ambassadors for additional training within account base
    • Engaging with trade to promote and produce portfolio programs - (eg, World Class,
    • Tales of a Cocktail, etc.)
    • Connecting influencers with relevant media opportunities
    • Leading educational trips
    • Designing custom specific programming for the TLA accounts to support brand growth
  • Building and retaining relationships with trade influencers and key local media resulting in
    • Increase in back-bar listings and menu placements
    • Increase in branded media opportunities
    • Increase in long-term brand affinity

KPIS

The Diageo Account Consultants (DAC) will be held accountable to key performance indicators regarding quality of experiences and the return on investment of those experiences. These include:

  • Customer service, measured by increase in portfolio presence over time
  • Number and impact of quality events executed
  • Increased mentions of the brand in public space (i.e. press coverage of events)
  • Increased brand sales from business to business outreach
  • Luxury partnerships established

Specific Responsibilities

In addition to the above activities, Diageo Account Consultants will also be responsible for the following:

  • Nurturing an already established network of influencers to connect with Diageo Reserve Brands
  • Imparting brand history, production and taste profile knowledge to trade and consumers
  • Introducing brand stories to trade and consumers to heighten the emotional connection to the brand
  • Dressing appropriately to represent Diageo and its desire to reach the target luxury consumer
  • Capturing authentic and relevant imagery for social media content
  • Providing samples to consumers (where legal)
  • Distributing branded merchandise
  • Evaluating and reporting successes and challenges, and offering ideas for improvement
  • Completing and submitting expense reports for promotional activity with the online portal
  • Working with Inspira Client Services team to create summary program recaps that identify
  • key learnings, competitive and local market insight and future program recommendations
  • Submitting activity reports and tracking documents on a monthly basis
  • Managing budget and reconciling expenditures on an on-going basis


Job Requirements

Ideal candidate has:

  • In-depth understanding of hospitality, the luxury lifestyle and values in the premium/luxury environment
  • Multiple years of hospitality-specific business experience (familiarity with beverage and pour cost, P&Ls, etc)
  • Strong local network within restaurant/cocktail world
  • Sales and marketing knowledge
  • Fluency with social media
  • Understanding of the promotional laws within the Beverage Alcohol industry
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle (travel required)
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel on an ad hoc basis including nights and weekends required

Experience & Education

  • Candidates with 5+ years as Beverage Director in a luxury environment preferred
  • Experience with bar and restaurant management mandatory
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience as restaurant, brand, or spirits category trainer
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office and programs
