Quality Specialist

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assure that purchased baled hops comply with contract quality criteria, descriptions and specifications, are supported by comprehensive documentation relative to agronomic and cultivation factors and substantiated by acceptable results from USDA sampling inspections
  • Manage all quality functions related to storage, processing, packaging, distribution and traceability of pelletized hops to include:
    • product specifications and standard operating procedures
    • food safety and solid manufacturing practices
    • application of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point principles to prioritize and control food production risks
    • facility hygiene and sanitation
  • Identify and document root cause analysis and corrective / preventative actions in cases of non-conformance with specifications, customer rejections or complaints
  • Monitor and document crop conditions with emphasis on anticipating and managing prospective yield and quality concerns
  • Develop and maintain evaluation system to substantiate grower proficiencies and identify development opportunities
  • best practice employee safety operational design, and risk management plans as required for all county and municipal public safety like fire, hazardous materials, and air quality
  • Develop ISO quality and environmental management systems
  • Educate and train internal staff and external partners

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Quality Assurance or related field plus a minimum of 5 year’s related experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Solid knowledge of hops varieties including agricultural profiles, risk factors and prospective innovations and the brewing process
  • Regulatory compliance and safety knowledge and experience to include federal, state and industry guidelines
  • Strong technical capacity including experience in MS Office products and ERP software
  • Thoroughness, acute analysis and problem solving, business acumen and customer focus
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and verbal and written communication skills
