About the Packaging Technician role

Given our upcoming growth, we are hiring a Packaging Technician in our Woburn, MA brewery. The Packaging Technician position is a key role responsible for the both the day-to-day packaging of LHBCo beers and the continual upkeep of the packaging equipment. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Operate and maintain our Wild Goose canning line, including, set up, maintenance, changeovers

  • Act as first point of contact for all equipment slow-downs (e.g. can-jams, low-fills)

  • Can and keg beer according to the daily packaging schedule

  • Lead all troubleshooting and resolving of packaging issues

  • Coordinate with team members to achieve packaging production requirements

  • Set up, operate, and maintain our IDD Mini King kegging machine for the full variety of draft container offerings

  • Contribute to and rely on packaging performance metrics

  • Identify and implement improvements to maximize package quality and operations efficiency

  • Pick and prepare packaging raw materials including folding case trays and washing kegs

  • Pick, document, and load finished beer to be distributed to our customers

  • Support the implementation, operation, and maintenance of our next generation packaging equipment

Packaging Technician qualifications

At a minimum, the Packaging Technician must have the following:

  • 2+ years of experience operating packaging equipment (strongly prefer beer, other beverages, or food packaging)

  • Experience leading other employees

  • Ability to mechanically maintain and adjust packaging equipment to improve its operation

  • Experience with packaging equipment changeovers and mechanical adjustments

  • Good interpersonal skills and communication skills

  • Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods, stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs

  • Ability to regularly lift/carry heavy supplies, like bags of grain and kegs of beer

  • Ability to work in a brewery environment which may be loud, slick, humid, and hot

  • Ability to comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including personal protection equipment such as gloves and goggles
