The role of Director of Business Development is to help act as the primary liaison between the Massachusetts Beverage Alliance and prospective and existing suppliers.

o Maintain contact, communication, and relationships with assigned existing and targeted potential suppliers.
o Prospect a target list of suppliers to foster strong relationships with to develop long term business partnerships.
o Extensive travel to existing and prospective suppliers to help reinforce the relationship between MBA and supplier.
o Solidify long term business relationships with prospective suppliers and build mutually agreed upon “go to market strategies”.
o Develop and help execute marketing plans and programs to support distribution, sales and revenue objectives to help grow the brands.
o Responsible for overseeing assigned brewery budgets.
o Take a leadership role for in market brewery events acting as the primary point of contact for senior and middle level brewery managers.
o Manage MBA social media accounts.
o Responsible for developing strong retail relationships with “Key” on and off premise accounts across the state of Massachusetts.
o Utilization of Encompass and VIP iDIG system to identify and execute strategic sales initiatives.
o Communicate and Collaborate with MBA’s General Manager and Director of Sales Operations.
o Travel to other industry related events required, including GABF, CBC, beer festivals.
o Champion of fresh beer.
o Represent the MBA in a positive and professional manner.

Skills and Experience:
o Cicerone Level 1 Beer Server Certification.  Cicerone Level 2 Certification required within first year of hire.
o 7+ years of previous sales management in beer or beverage industry. Distributor experience a big plus.
o Attention to detail is a must.
o Above average ability to problem solve.
o Excellent time management and organizational skills.
o Enthusiasm for beer.
o Confident and willing to question conventional wisdom. 
o Enjoy a very fast paced environment and adapt to change. 
o Strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions and disciplines. 
o Social media savvy.

o Valid and clean driver license.
o Bachelor’s degree in business.
o Willingness to work unconventional hours.
o Proficiency in Encompass a huge plus.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
o Proven ability to use data and analytics to develop insights.
o Ability to consume responsibly.
