Sycamore Brewing is seeking an experienced, ambitious head brewer to join our team, take a seat at the table, and help us maintain and further catalyze our explosive growth. The right candidate will be very excited by the opportunity to join a highly successful, award-winning brewery in a dynamic growth phase. Sycamore’s production takes place in a best-practice, expansion focused 54,000 sq ft facility powered by a 4 vessel 50 hectoliter automated brewhouse.

Duties and Responsibilities

Overseeing the expansion of our production space 

Working closely with and reporting directly to our owners on a daily basis 

Following, enforcing and developing proper SOPs in all aspects of production 

Managing raw material inventories 

Managing brewery staff members (assist in hiring/promotion/training of brewery staff, assist in training of all employees on proper SOPs, manage employee schedules and attendance, enforce company policies & SOPs, ensure brewery staff safety) 

Scheduling production operations 

Assisting in forecasting of beer needs 

Developing and implementing recipes

Managing documentation of all production operations 

Wort production on a 50 HL (42bbl) barrel Specific Mechanical brewhouse 

CIP of fermentation vessels and brewhouse

Yeast handling and propagation  

Best practice in transferring, carbonating, kegging and packaging beer 

Participating in company meetings and leading those that are production focused 

Adhering to, developing and ensuring all safety protocols

Abilities and Skills

Superior brewing and management skills 

Able to work independently as well as manage a team 

Strong organizational skills 

Able to record and manage documentation accurately in a timely manner 

Able to function in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment 

Able to learn new skills and follow instructions consistently 

Strong leadership qualities 

Excellent time management skills 

Able to be flexible in both schedule and duties. This is not always a 9-5 job 

Passion for brewing beer and engaging with our brewing community   

Required Minimum Qualifications

Five years of experience managing a production team at a brewery that produces and packages 10,000 bbls or more annually 

Valid driver’s license with no restrictions 

Able to lift 35lbs; able to move 55lbs using tools such as a hand truck or a forklift 

Able to kneel and stoop occasionally 

Able to stand and work for up to 12 hours at a time   

Desired Qualifications

Six or more years brewing at a brewery that produces at least 10,000 bbls annually 

Management experience 

Positive Mental Attitude 

Forklift certifications and aptitude
