Job Overview:

The Operations Coordinator will be responsible for helping to manage all facets of the supply chain side of the business, including purchasing, production, inventory management, logistics, distribution, and more. The candidate will report to the Director of Operations. The candidate must additionally be willing and able to take on tasks and assignments that might be otherwise considered outside of their normal job description. 

Responsibilities:

Production & Procurement

  • Purchase all ingredients and materials necessary for production
  • Plan production with co-packer and manage production schedule
  • Maintain and grow relationships with current suppliers, and seek new suppliers
  • Perform ingredient and packaging research to reduce costs of goods sold
  • Review, analyze, and approve supplier and other invoices
  • Serve as primary, day-to-day contact for co-packers, distributors, freight brokers, and other operations-related personnel
Inventory Management
  • Manage inventory levels at co-packers, distributors, warehouses, and other locations carrying product
  • Manage ERP software (Fishbowl)
  • Manage and resolve any discrepancy issues including over, short and damaged goods

Logistics Management  

  • Set up and manage all inbound and outbound freight, from small parcel shipments to truckload
  • Develop strategic plan to reduce total freight spend
  • Provide customer service support for inbound and outbound shipments
  • Handle, submit, and monitor all freight-related claims

Quality Assurance & Certifications

  • Manage and continually update all product certifications, including organic, non-gmo, kosher, gluten free, and paleo
  • Manage and continually update QA documentation for all ingredients/suppliers, including specs, nutritionals, certifications, etc.
  • Handle all QA-related issues and inquiries from customers, co-packers, retailers, distributors, etc.

Other

  • Prepare regular internal operations reports for Director of Operations
  • Perform additional duties and projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-3 years of experience in supply chain or operations management (CPG/food industry is preferred, but not a must)
  • Excellent computer skills and willing to learn and master new computer programs
  • Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills
  • Ability to work exceptionally well in a team environment
  • Excellent time-management skills and comfortable with tight and variable deadlines
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Positive, enthusiastic, hardworking, persistent, and dependable
  • Extremely well organized, resourceful, and detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated and a doer — must be extremely results-driven
  • Willing and able to:
    • Represent the company at trade shows and events
    • Roll up their sleeves to do whatever it takes to get the job done
    • Hang out with the team after hours
    • Learn to cook the perfect pancake
  • Ability to:
