Open Position – Sales Representative at Pike Brewing Company 

The Pike Brewing Company is an iconic family and independently owned craft brewing company. Pike Brewing Company is known for handcrafting beers of character, being fiercely local and committed to quality. Pike Brewing is the seventh largest craft brewer in Washington State and is offered at bars, restaurants, taprooms and retail outlets throughout the Northwest.

Pike Brewing Company seeks a self-motivated individual who is ambitious and ready to make a difference in the craft beer world. We are seeking someone to join our fiercely independent company and represent us in the marketplace. Qualified candidates need to be outgoing, a self-starter, goal-oriented and have a passion for the craft brewing industry.  In this dynamic position, you will be an ambassador for our amazing beer, help build and maintain professional sales relationships with retailers, wholesalers and consumers, as well as become a champion of quality assurance in the marketplace.

Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Market Development: On Premise

  • Achieve specified account goals
  • Develop new accounts and maintain current accounts within the industry
  • Communicate with retail accounts regarding brand awareness, pricing, inventory, events, etc.
  • Create positive relationships with key decision makers in your market
  • Work with distributors on a weekly basis, plan/attend promos/staff trainings, land new bottle and draft placements at regional accounts
  • Conduct wait staff / bartender educations, beer tastings and evening promotions both offsite and on location at our brewery and two restaurants

  • Market Development: Off Premise

  • Achieve specified account goals
  • Develop new placements and maintain current placements within chain stores
  • Communicate with buyers regarding brand awareness, pricing, inventory, events, etc.
  • Create positive relationships with key decision makers
  • Work with distributors on annual sales pitches, specific to each chain
  • Conduct in store tasting and setting up on shelf promos.

  • Distributor/Market Knowledge: 

  • Develop strong relationship with each distributor by being recognized as one of the distributor’s best supplier reps based on contribution to the growth and prosperity of Pike Brewing Company and distributor’s businesses 
  • Understand point of sale orders, pulling and invoicing samples, scheduling ride-alongs, scheduling merchandiser account visits for specialty point of sale and large displays, basic policies for handling distributor bill backs, receiving monthly sales reports, scheduling time at weekly/monthly sales meetings and how sales reps and supervisors are compensated
  • Know key people and product lineup of top five local beer companies in market
  • Develop market profile target lists
  • Partner with distributors to ensure orders are placed, products are received, and business is growing at accounts
  • Work with the Pike Team to expand and grow a positive brand perception

  • Required Skills/Experience (but not limited to): 

    • Must reside in the greater Seattle Area
    • Desire to build a career in craft beer
    • 2-3 years of beverage related sales experience
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • Strong knowledge and experience in the local marketplace
    • Highly motivated with an assertive, confident personality
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work alone
    • Strong knowledge of Pike Brewing, its history, and its product offerings
    • Great judgment and professional maturity
    • General knowledge of brewing process 
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to master the selling process 
    • Knowledge of distributor operations, know how to work with distributors, and understand how to work with different trade channels 
    • Must be able to travel
    • Must be able to work flexible hours/days, including weekend events
    • Computer competence in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
    • Must have a clean driving record (background checks will be performed on final candidates)
    • Ability to lift and move cases of beer frequently, kegs occasionally
    • Ability to climb, kneel, and stoop to arrange and display point of sale frequently
