Down The Road Beer Co. is a fast-growing craft brewery and taproom looking for an experienced commercial brewer to head all brewing practices and overall operations at the brewery. With a 2018 forecast of approximately 11,000 barrels, the production side of the business has never been busier. Located in the heart of Everett, MA - steps from the forthcoming casino - with an expansive taproom and outdoor seating, Down The Road is on the rise and looking to add to our beer family.
The Lead Brewer position is a dynamic opportunity to work under company founder and head brewer Donovan Bailey, while managing direct reports including assistant brewers and cellarmen. Our beer portfolio is ever-expanding, as is our drive to continue to push the boundaries of what craft beer can be. This position will have a direct impact on the current inner workings of the brewery as well as the future catalog of beers and brewhouse best practices.
Core duties will will include, but are not limited to:
Establishing and monitoring a robust QA/QC program
Raw materials inventory/ordering
Owning the brewing schedule and forecasting
Making sure all operating systems are clean and functioning properly
Working with other members of the team to ensure all beer that leaves the facility is of the highest quality
The Lead Brewer directly reports to the Head Brewer and the Corporate Leadership Team, with a “dotted line” to the Plant Operations Director. This is a position among our senior management team, collaborating and contributing to the future direction of the company.
Other core tasks:
Establish and enforce weekly cleaning and maintenance schedule
Track all brewing supplies and record on appropriate inventory sheets
Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory of finished beer, grain, hops, and other raw materials
Experience and Requirements:
3-5 years of commercial brewing experience
Formal brewers education a plus
Ability to multitask and work lucidly in a time sensitive environment
Must be able to lift 55 lbs, and push 165 lbs.
Must be able to follow PPE protocol and handle hazardous chemicals safely
Exceptional troubleshooting skills and common sense
