The Head of Discovery will be responsible for developing and commercializing LuckyVitamins new product strategies and initiatives, focusing primarily on the LuckyVitamin private label business. This position will work closely with our merchant team to source, develop, and bring to market our industry-leading private label products. The position will be responsible for identifying, developing and testing concepts based on consumer insights, market research, and business data. They will lead development of approved new product concepts from opportunity assessment through launch including vendor agreements, sourcing, certifications, product design and labeling, etc. As the Head of Discovery at LuckyVitamin you'll be on the front lines helping us bring healthy, affordable, high-quality products to the masses

  • Identify, develop, and direct merchandise private label opportunities in conjunction with the VP, Merchandisers, and Branded Merchandise Buyers
  • Partner with cross functional teams to develop product, packaging, P&Ls and go to market plan while establishing, overseeing, and directing product specifications, quality, and inspection protocol to LuckyVitamin standards
  • Sell in new product ideas to Leadership Team
  • Ownership of launch timelines
  • Develop a strong instinct for category trends through research reports, trade shows, store checks, etc., that feeds into new product ideation and development
  • Partner with Merchandising team to understand consumer insights – develop platforms, products and strategies that are truly consumer driven
  • Test new vendors’ products to develop best in class products that lead the category in taste
  • Perform risk assessments, and identify and evaluate alternative solutions in an agile setting while performing regular quarterly review of current merchandise mix sales and suggested program enhancements
  • Participate in building consensus among various diverse groups to ensure a 360 implementation of projects/releases
  • Coordinate with internal demand planning and suppliers' expected purchasing forecasts and packing needs
  • Acts as product owner during sprint planning/grooming.
  • Conduct onsite review of supplier facilities and abilities with support of the VP and other personnel where applicable
  • Coordinate with compliance and legal to ensure packaging meets all requirements for legal import and/or sale
  • Must have a clear vision of a projects objectives and be able to maintain a long term view

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in ecommerce environment
  • 7+ year in product development or related fields
  • Experience purchasing consumer product goods categories.
  • Natural relationship builder: you know how to communicate and interact with buying, logistics, design, product registration, legal, compliance, and vendors in a professional, positive and pro-active manner
  • Proven ability (through examples) to negotiate effectively
  • Track record of successful integrations and projects. Highly organized and deadline driven: you can manage multiple projects to on-time and in-budget completion
  • Familiarity with enterprise web platforms
  • Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Visio, MS Project and PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and deductive reasoning skills
  • Collaborative personality and ability to work with a team across departments
