The Role

Bowery Farming is hiring an Area Sales Manager for the New York Metro Area (NYC Boroughs and Northern NJ). You will be responsible for day-to-day sales operations and store-level account management for existing and future retail, wholesale, and restaurant customers for Bowery’s produce. As Bowery’s first ASM, you have the exciting opportunity to be the face of the Bowery brand at retailers like Whole Foods and other national and regional retailers. You will establish strong business relationships with store managers and produce department managers in order to grow Bowery’s sales volume, gain new points of distribution, and increase brand visibility in stores. In addition to managing existing customer relationships, you will also be responsible for targeting and generating new business at independent retailers in the NY Metro Area. The Area Sales Manager will report to the Sales & Account Lead and work closely with the Field Marketing Manager to create impactful in-store events and promotions. What You’ll Do At Bowery

  • Establish strong business relationships with all store level personnel in order to grow Bowery’s sales and increase brand visibility
  • Conduct retail account sales calls at 12-20 locations per day
  • Identify and close new business at independent retailers
  • Receive and manage daily sales orders
  • Track and monitor store sales data to identify selling opportunities
  • Ensure store promotions are executed with proper pricing, signage, and items in distribution
  • Communicate with the Farm Operations team to understand product inventory and manage accordingly


What You Have

  • 1-2 years of sales experience (sales experience in consumer packaged goods is a plus)
  • High energy level – you should be able to be engage effectively, influence retailer decisions, and communicate with multiple personality types
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to operate independently and an entrepreneurial spirit – the Area Sales Manager will primarily work alone on sales calls and set his/her own schedule based on the needs of the accounts
  • A car - some light car travel around NYC and Northern NJ to accounts
  • A passion for improving our food system through the use of technology, and the ability to translate this passion into a compelling selling story
