Summary of Position:

The Lead Brewer is a leader in the maintenance, growth, and promotion of the Crooked Hammock beer brand.  They have oversight of brewery operations, quality control, sales, and marketing of our beer in their specific location. The Lead Brewer will be a Hammock brand ambassador by engaging, educating, and promoting our tasty brewed products!

Duties & Responsibilities:  

  • Brew delicious beer that fits the Crooked Hammock brand and be an expert on all things brewery-related

  • Build the Crooked Hammock brew team and train others to brew delicious beer

  • Provide expert knowledge of the brewing process, recipe formulation, and ingredients with an ability to troubleshoot quality and production issues

  • Ensure quality control - flavor profile, check, and taste all standard and one-off brews throughout the brewing, fermentation, and serving process

  • Collaborate with Director of Brewery Operations; collaborate with Marketing to promote sales & growth

  • Assist with staffing decisions, orientation, performance management, training, and safety oversight

  • Continuously tweak and formulate recipes to ensure efficient usage of ingredients

  • Ensure control of beer cost by oversight of brewing, storing, and serving beer to company standards

  • Maintain oversight of brewing scheduling and maintain brewery equipment and repair as needed

  • Effectively communicate all happenings with restaurant team and management; attend all coordination meetings with management to ensure clear communication on brewery operations

  • Monitor and continuously improve brewing operations with regards to safety, quality, efficiency, cost optimization and profitability

  • Represent brewery at tradeshows/beer festivals and be a liaison to partners including pricing/product info

  • Engage, educate, and promote brewed products to restaurant guests and staff

  • Check and maintain proper beer holding & serving temperature

  • Provide and update training materials to properly describe beers - “Beer 101”

  • Communicate with distributor on retrieval of kegs, billing, etc. as well as preparation for distribution

  • Uphold the core values & code of ethics in our Team Development plan and reinforce “How We Roll” 

  • Live the brand and be a brand ambassador; make decisions in the best interest of the brewery every time
