Sunset Reservoir Brewing Company is looking for a head brewer! We are a three year-old 10 barrel brewery in the Outer Sunset.

We need an experienced and creative candidate to serve as head brewer and get involved with all aspects of brewery operations. This is an excellent opportunity to get involved with a growing brewery from the early stages and work in a collaborative environment to shape the evolution of a beer portfolio with no limits on experimental concepts.
Responsibilities Include:
Brewhouse operations:
Milling, Mashing, Lautering, Boiling, Whirlpooling, Knockout, Grain Out, and Brewhouse Vessel CIP (including Heat Exchanger)
Cellar-Related operations:
Fermenter CIP/Scrub/Sanitation, Cell Counting, Checking Gravities/Monitoring Fermentation(Incl. Glycol Controls), Capping/Chilling/Dry Hopping Schedule and Procedures, Yeast Management, BBT Cleaning and Sanitizing, Recording Fermentations, Reading BBT Levels and Recording, Checking Co2 in Beer
Packaging operations:
Carbonation of beer, Fining, Kegging, Checking Co2 in Beer
Quality Assurance Operations:
Cell Counts, Pitch Rates, Gravity Measurements, Process Sampling, Yeast Viability Measurement, Taste Panel
Pilot Brewhouse Operations:
Recipe Formulation, Brewing, Fermentation, Packaging and Taste Panel
Create and manage brewing schedule
Develop and brew new recipes
Manage all operations of the brewery
Detailed record keeping and quality control reporting
Ability to maintain inventories of raw and finished goods
Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
TTB tax and production filings
Use proper operating, cleaning and preventative maintenance procedures
Help develop and refine brewery-wide SOPs, particularly with an eye to improving consistency in brewhouse output
Develop and brew new and current recipes
Create a harmonious team environment with all staff
Participate in festivals and promotional events
Public tours, education, tastings and interaction with brewery guests
Assist in future planning for growth
Must be willing to pitch in on tasks outside your key responsibilities


Requirements:
Degree in Fermentation Science or completion of brewing-science program
3+ years professional brewing experience minimum
Experience in yeast handling
A self motivated, outgoing, enthusiastic and success driven personality
Strong work ethic
Team oriented but also independently driven
Strong problem solving ability
Strong attention to detail
Good cleaning and sanitizing abilities
Ability to multi-task and work in a high paced environment
Willing and looking to learn and grow with a startup brewery
Additional desired skills:
Science/Lab background
Mechanical background or ability
Barrel/mixed fermentation/Foeder experience
Cicerone Certification
Familiarity with Ekos Brewmaster
Familiarity with Wild Goose canning line
Physical requirements:
Ability to lift 55+ lbs repeatedly
Ability to crouch, kneel, stoop, crawl and other brewing/cellaring maneuvers into tight spaces repeatedly
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to work in noisy environment
Ability to work in hot or cold environment for prolonged periods of time
Must be competent with MS Office, Google Docs
Must be able to enjoy making great beer



Position reports directly to General Manager. Successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of brewery functions with opportunities for off-site events such as Beer Week.
