Role Summary: The Quality Manager maintains an effective quality assurance program that ensures quality products, and is accountable for the following:
Manage quality and onsite food safety program
Maintain SQF2, ODA, USDA, FDA, Organic, Kosher, and HACCP programs
Manage, lead, develop, and train onsite staff in quality and food safety
Maintain accuracy and timely deliveries of reports
Manage relationships with outside vendors, suppliers, and customers
Implement strategies for continuous improvement processes
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages all quality assurance and laboratory functions for the site.
Provides direction and influence for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of all quality systems.
Assures that all products produced at the site are safe for consumption and conform to the intended product design.
Supports all R&D driven projects at the site through quality planning, and by project oversight for compliance to GMPs and other company policies and standards.
In partnership with the sales and production teams, supports the site implementation of all new products, line extensions and continuous quality improvement projects including the effective execution of line trials and execution of process capability evaluations.
Assures the effectiveness of the corrective and preventative action process within the framework of the plant’s Quality Management System.
Manage assigned direct reports to assure skill development and build clear succession planning, including managing daily attendance. Provide timely feedback on performance and provide training opportunities which align with Relay’s performance management toolkit.
Product conformance to specifications and requirements.
Notification of product quality and safety issues; identifying business risks and expedient communication of issues
Execution and planning of internal audit and Corrective Preventative Action Program
Technical training requirements for the team and their individual development plans.
Laboratory analytical support required to troubleshoot and resolve site issues.
Process holds, conduct recalls, suspend production lines, implement change management decisions.
Qualifications and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or related technical field isrequired; an advanced degree is desirable
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical area such as R&D, product development, laboratory management, quality management systems, or food process engineering
Experience effectively leading a team and accomplishing goals through others; a minimum 1 year experience directly managing others
Basic understanding of regulatory and food law, including AAFCO Guidelines
Key functional skills, including:
HACCP and SQF2 edition 8 management
FSSC22000 scheme and quality management systems
Project & Change Management Processes
Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Integrated Sanitation and Pest Control Management
GMP and Personnel Hygiene Management
Valid driver’s license and reliable automobile, safe driving record and insurance coverage acceptable to Relay Resources insurance carrier.
Ability to pass drug screening and criminal history background check and/or fingerprinting as appropriate at any time during employment.
