Job Title:  Sales Representative – Brand Ambassador

Home Office:  Richmond, VA

Classification:  Full-Time Salary

Summary:

The Sales Representative/Brand Ambassador will be building the Landcrafted Food brand within their market area:  Virginia, North Carolina, Washington DC, Maryland, Eastern Pennsylvania.  Develops relationships with store managers/personnel to secure and maintain distribution and drive turns and volume, achieving short and long-term objectives.  Selling our product to customers across multiple channels that sell snacks, building the market with existing customers, customers that are aware of our beef sticks and calling on new customers.  Customer coverage and routes will be built over time.  As an ambassador for our brand, responsible for driving sales and awareness thru consumer engagement at customer, local, industry events.

The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, is interested in being part of a local/micro business that is introducing and building the Landcrafted Brand.  Buys into our mission of helping preserve family farms, returning more dollars to the farmers in the mountains of Grayson County Virginia.  She or he should have experience managing a retail territory, calling on customers, engaging with consumer, establishing and maintaining quality professional relationships.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Selling new distribution, retail placement where snacks are sold
  • Maintaining distribution, proper inventories/rotation, selling improved shelf placement
  • Selling benefits of targeted/competitive everyday pricing
  • Selling secondary product placement, i.e. front end, countertops, etc. to drive incremental sales
  • Selling direct and distributor merchandising/promotion plans
  • Leveraging sales tools to increase turns/volume
  • Ensure HQ compliance of placement, pricing, and merchandising plans
  • Capture and feedback competitive/market information and new ideas/opportunities
  • Target 2 customer and/or local event sampling/couponing programs weekly to engage with consumers drive Landcrafted Food awareness and trial
  • Maintain market/customer records, providing feedback/results against plan/objectives
  • May occasionally attend industry/customer events outside of market geography
  • Classify customers for effective/efficient coverage over time, building routes based on classification/coverage: monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, phone/email
  • Calls per week targets, existing and prospective for new customers
  • Will change and evolve over time as market/customers are built out and become less focus on securing new placement/customers and selling/implementation of plans to drive turns/volume increases
  • Other duties as customer base/market is developed and/or as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and sales skills with the ability to work effectively with team members, industry personnel, and customers contacts
  • Experience managing retail territory, calling on customers, establishing and maintaining quality professional relationships is much preferred
  • Must be able to plan and prepare for customer calls from home office, with ample room for samples and sales materials, use data/CRM systems to manage existing customers and prospect for new customers
  • Computer with Microsoft Office, Internet, and functionality comprehension and proficiency with email, calendar, Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Cell phone for business use
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, proof of current auto insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Varied work week, will include some weekends, occasional overnights
  • Must be able to stand/walk a minimum of 4 consecutive hours

Travel:

  • Weekly within market area
  • Occasionally outside of market area for company, customer, industry expectations/needs
  • Estimate 3-4 overnights per month

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required, additional education a plus
  • Retail Sales related and/or consumer goods industry experience preferred

  • 35,000 to $40,00 annually, paid bi-weekly
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Overnight travel expenses reimbursed
