We have positioned ourselves to continue to grow rapidly as we lead the craft mead revolution. We need an experienced, dynamic and positive Production Manager to lead our production team to produce or products for all present and future customers.


Job Purpose

The Production Manager oversees all activities in the planning and execution of mead production and shipment of mead to our customers. You will work to ensure we have the most effective processes to turn raw materials into the best mead on the planet. You will refine and follow all QA / QC processes to ensure our products hit the market while adhering to our high quality standards. This is not a desk job only, you will get your hands dirty.

Key Responsibilities

Scheduling & Planning

  • Develop realistic batch plans and production schedules to meet sales forecasts
  • Work closely with sales team to refine production plans based on sales forecast changes
  • Plan and Schedule all production staff and business partners to execute on production plans
  • Develop and execute effective maintenance plans and schedule for all required equipment

Mead Production

  • Follow and refine all SOPs (with Operations Director) to ensure all production activities are completed
  • Improve production flows to create efficiencies and cost savings as we continue to grow
  • Utilize company systems to maintain accurate records for all production batches
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations and health codes
  • Work with Operations Director to prepare and file required regulatory reports


  • Ensure the constant flow of raw materials required for production schedules
  • Maintain supplier relationships and develop cost improvement strategies for key ingredients and materials
  • Optimize the flow of work with partners to make packaging runs both cost effective and efficient for the business

Inventory Management

  • Optimize company systems and use inventory management principles to set order points and quantities for key ingredients and supplies
  • Perform physical inventory counts as required by company policy
  • Work to optimize production runs to balance finished goods and inventory KPIs
  • Receive all goods into company systems and work with Finance to ensure timely payment to suppliers


  • Ensure all Distributor orders are picked, packed and ready for carrier pick up at required time

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have 3 – 5 years experience in a production manager capacity (preferably in alcohol)
  • 3 – 5 years of planning experience is essential
  • Prior inventory management experience required
  • People management and team development experience is required
  • Experience in product QA/QC required
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to work with other employees, management and customers
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Advanced negotiation skills are highly valuable
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, company Brewery Management System (Ekos Brewmaster)
